In the past few days, they had taken the Diamond-Eyed Cat to several animal hospitals, but the poor creature didn’t even have the strength to open its eyes, and none of the veterinarians could find the cause. Just now, even Director Zhao, a renowned specialist in feline and canine medicine, had declared Princess Luna beyond saving, saying that not even a deity could help her.

Yet to everyone’s astonishment, Chen Xian had only gently stroked the cat a few times, and suddenly the Diamond-Eyed Cat opened her eyes. Her gaze was bright and spirited, her body full of vitality, and her meows rang out with vigor. It was all simply miraculous—nothing short of a divine intervention!

“Hee hee, my dearest Princess Luna, you’re finally better! Mwah—” Zhang Xiaohan, overjoyed, scooped up the snow-white Diamond-Eyed Cat and kissed her on the cheek.

Princess Luna rubbed her furry face affectionately against the little girl, the scene radiating warmth and intimacy.

“Thank you, Chen Xian!” Xu Ruyuan, finally coming to her senses, expressed her gratitude.

Chen Xian smiled faintly. “Sister Xu, it was nothing but a small favor.”

As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Director Zhao, who stood dazed to one side.

“How could this be? How is it possible?” Director Zhao muttered, lost in disbelief.

What Chen Xian had just done was far beyond his understanding or imagination.

“Director Zhao, you owe Chen Xian an apology!” Zhang Xin reminded him. She had been very upset by Director Zhao’s earlier rude words toward Chen Xian, feeling as though his insult to Chen Xian was an insult to herself—though she wasn’t fully aware of this feeling.

Director Zhao snapped out of his stupor, but instead of apologizing immediately, he opened his medical kit, took out his instruments, and began to examine Luna.

A few minutes later, he packed away his equipment, his face filled with shock.

Pushing his thick-framed glasses up his nose, Director Zhao walked over to Chen Xian, bowed deeply with a solemn expression, and said humbly, “Mr. Chen, I apologize for what I said earlier! It was ignorance on my part, showing off before a master such as yourself!”

Zhang Xin and Xu Ruyuan were both surprised by this scene.

Even Chen Xian hadn’t expected the usually arrogant and self-important Director Zhao to apologize so humbly.

At first, he thought someone as proud as Director Zhao would become angry and refuse to apologize no matter what. After all, not long ago, the man’s attitude had been so haughty and overbearing.

But on second thought, Chen Xian realized: if Director Zhao were truly that conceited and dismissive, he would never have become such a renowned expert in veterinary medicine.

“All right, I forgive you,” Chen Xian said, seeing the man’s sincerity and letting the matter go. After all, the method he had used to heal the Diamond-Eyed Cat was more of a divine technique than a medical one. Luna’s illness was likely incurable with current veterinary science; in a sense, Director Zhao’s original judgment wasn’t wrong—Luna could not be cured.

“Mr. Chen, may I ask you a question?” Director Zhao inquired respectfully.

“Go ahead.”

“How did you restore the Siamese cat’s health? And her vitality has improved so much!” Director Zhao asked eagerly, like a primary school student seeking instruction.

Chen Xian felt a headache coming on; this was a tricky question. He certainly couldn’t admit that he had used a special spiritual energy to heal Luna!

His thoughts raced, and finally he replied, “I used a special meridian massage technique I learned from an old Chinese physician. That’s how Luna recovered her health.”

It was the only plausible excuse he could offer.

“Meridian massage technique?” Director Zhao was baffled. “Mr. Chen, could you explain in detail?”

“I cannot share it, or my master would blame me,” Chen Xian replied.

Seeing that Chen Xian was unwilling to elaborate, Director Zhao did not press further.

“Big Brother Chen Xian, you’re amazing! I want to reward you!” At that moment, Zhang Xiaohan put down the Siamese cat, stretched out her arms to Chen Xian, and said, “Give me a hug!”

Amused by the little girl’s cuteness, Chen Xian squatted down and picked her up. “Xiaohan, how will you reward your big brother?”

Mwah—

The little girl puckered her rosy lips and planted a kiss on Chen Xian’s cheek, her voice sweet as milk, “Xiaohan rewards big brother with a kiss!”

“One isn’t enough—make it two!” Chen Xian laughed, turning his other cheek toward her.

Mwah—

Zhang Xiaohan kissed him again on the other cheek.

Nearby, Zhang Xin watched this scene, a captivating smile blossoming on her beautiful face. Her sparkling eyes were fixed on Chen Xian, shining with an inner light.

After lunch, Chen Xian left Zhang Xin’s cousin-in-law’s house, with Zhang Xin driving him away. Xu Ruyuan, wanting to thank him, wrote a check for 100,000 yuan, but he declined it and simply stayed for lunch.

“Chen Xian, you’re incredible! You did effortlessly what even the most famous veterinary expert in Hzhou couldn’t do! I really admire you!” Zhang Xin teased as she drove.

Chen Xian’s lips curled in a smile as he replied casually, “So, you’re my fan now?”

“Yes, I’m your top fan!” Zhang Xin beamed like a flower. “Tonight, I want to treat my idol to dinner—will you do me the honor?”

Her invitation was mainly to thank him for saving Princess Luna.

Chen Xian glanced at the girl’s flawless profile, her hair cascading over her shoulders, and thought to himself: She really is like a fairy.

Naturally, he had no reason to refuse Zhang Xin’s invitation. “I’d be happy to,” he said.

As they chatted, neither noticed the Ferrari supercar approaching in the opposite lane.

In the driver’s seat sat a young man in a tailored designer suit—Zhang Xin’s older brother, Zhang Ziqiang.

Zhang Ziqiang spotted the red Lamborghini, looked again, and realized it was his sister’s car—with his sister inside, laughing and chatting with a man.

That man was none other than the penniless Chen Xian.

“Damn it! That toad dares ignore my warning and is still cozying up to my sister? He won’t give up until he’s taught a lesson!” Zhang Ziqiang ground his teeth in anger.

He had set his heart on matching his sister with the eldest son of the Xu family, a powerful clan in Longdu.

But knowing his sister’s character, she rarely listened to her brother. Any direct intervention would be useless.

With a roar, Zhang Ziqiang slammed on the gas, venting his frustration as his Ferrari howled forward like a wild beast.

Before long, the Lamborghini arrived at the Splendid Community. Zhang Xin, called away by a friend’s urgent phone call, dropped Chen Xian off and drove away.

They agreed to meet for dinner at 5:30 that evening.

Chen Xian, in excellent spirits, walked briskly toward Villa 101.

Suddenly, he stopped, closed his eyes, and a look of excitement appeared on his face.

Just now, 001—his informant planted near Fang Jing—had relayed important news: The XX Bank in the north of the city had been robbed. At the scene, one security guard and five bank staff were killed, dozens were wounded, and two million yuan in cash was stolen…
