Chapter 110: It Is All My Fault
Inside the hotel, everyone peered out through the grand entrance. They saw no fewer than a dozen police cars pulling into the hotel’s parking lot. The doors flung open, and dozens of heavily armed officers from the T Country police force, equipped with guns and riot shields, charged menacingly toward the hotel.
Everyone present—whether hotel staff or the bodyguards and assistants accompanying Guo Xinzi—looked at Chen Xian with deep concern.
They all understood one thing: these police officers were coming for Chen Xian.
Though Chen Xian was a formidable fighter, reputed as the top enforcer in JK City, capable of handling Xiang Kui—who himself commanded dozens of henchmen—the reality was clear. No matter how skilled in martial arts, one could not oppose the state’s law enforcement and expect to win.
When a martial artist crosses swords with state authorities, it invariably leads to a dead end.
This was the common understanding.
Except for two people. One was Guo Xinzi. Ever since she saw Chen Xian’s reassuring smile, her heart held absolute faith in him.
This was because Chen Xian’s smile was imbued with a divine spiritual power that soothed Guo Xinzi’s soul.
The other was, naturally, Chen Xian himself.
He stood with a calm and indifferent expression, hands clasped behind his back, amidst a group of local thugs sprawled on the ground groaning in pain, embodying the image of a peerless master.
Leading the police charge was a middle-aged man with a handlebar mustache, sallow skin, and a protruding belly reminiscent of a pregnant woman. He was the Deputy Commissioner of the JK City Police Headquarters.
“Surround that man!” the Deputy Commissioner commanded.
The officers swiftly aimed their dark barrels at Chen Xian, shouting, “Hands up and squat down, or we will open fire!”
Chen Xian smiled but did not move.
The Deputy Commissioner stepped forward and glanced at the gray-striped suit man lying on the ground. He paused, then recognized the jade ring on the man’s finger—it was none other than Xiang Kui, a notorious big shot in JK City and his sworn brother.
“Xiang Kui!” the Deputy Commissioner shook the man a few times.
Hmph!
Xiang Kui slowly regained consciousness, his slit-like eyes barely opening. Spotting the Deputy Commissioner, his so-called "good brother," he prepared to loudly complain and urge him to arrest Chen Xian.
But before he could speak, Chen Xian looked toward Xiang Kui.
Boom---
A roaring thunder seemed to explode inside Xiang Kui’s head, as if something had invaded his mind...
“Xiang Kui, what exactly happened?” the Deputy Commissioner, furious to see his brother treated this way, was about to sternly interrogate the culprit.
Xiang Kui’s narrow eyes focused on the Deputy Commissioner, his lips twitching as he said, “It’s all my fault. I coveted Miss Guo Xinzi’s beauty and tried to forcibly take her by brute force. That’s why I met this fate. You all can go back now; this matter is my fault!”
The Deputy Commissioner was stunned, his mustache trembling uncontrollably. What on earth was going on?
Not only was the Deputy Commissioner baffled, but everyone present—except Chen Xian—looked at Xiang Kui in disbelief.
The hotel manager thought to himself: Could it be that Xiang Kui had a sudden pang of conscience and turned over a new leaf? This guy had stopped countless actresses at Guangsheng Grand Hotel before to assault them!
“Weren’t you the one who called and reported a death here, prompting us to come?” the Deputy Commissioner frowned, snapping back to reality.
Xiang Kui replied, “I didn’t realize my mistake earlier, but now I admit I was gravely wrong. You should all go back and not get involved.”
“Xiang Kui, you...” the Deputy Commissioner was at a loss for words.
Xiang Kui continued, “If you insist on making an arrest, then arrest me. It was my lust clouding my judgment, my attempt to defile Miss Guo Xinzi, and my effort to kill Mr. Chen. Mr. Chen only acted in self-defense, which caused my injuries. I alone am to blame!”
“Ugh! Damn it, what kind of nonsense is this!” the Deputy Commissioner sighed deeply.
Since the culprit confessed and absolved others, the police had no grounds to intervene.
Originally, the Deputy Commissioner had intended to deal harshly with the suspect upon hearing his “good brother’s” call, but now that was unnecessary.
He promptly ordered a withdrawal.
All the officers quickly retreated, and before leaving, the Deputy Commissioner arranged ambulances for Xiang Kui and his men.
Clap, clap, clap!
As the police withdrew, applause erupted inside the hotel, all directed at Chen Xian.
“Mr. Chen, we are truly grateful this time. If not for you, I wouldn’t have known how to resolve this crisis!” Guo Xinzi’s beautiful eyes sparkled with gratitude as she looked at Chen Xian.
What she said was true. Even the most influential figures couldn’t have handled this. Guo Xinzi herself would have been helpless, likely falling victim to Xiang Kui’s assault. Just the thought made her shudder.
Chen Xian smiled gently. “Miss Guo, there’s no need to mention it. It was a small matter. Anyone else would have acted the same in such a situation. Recently, Xiang Kui won’t be troubling you anymore. Well then, goodbye. I need to find a hotel room to stay.”
“Mr. Chen, since this is during the Jade Stone Gambling Conference, it’s nearly impossible to book a room in the large hotels around Guangsheng’s 80,000-seat stadium without prior reservation. If you don’t mind, I can have my staff free up a room in the presidential suite for you,” Guo Xinzi said with a charming smile.
If Guo Xinzi’s male fans heard this, they would be unbearably envious of Chen Xian.
To share a room with such a stunning beauty was a dream come true.
After speaking, Guo Xinzi’s eyes gleamed warmly at Chen Xian.
Chen Xian’s gaze shifted thoughtfully before nodding. “Alright, then I’ll trouble you, Miss Guo.”
“Please, Mr. Chen, follow me,” Guo Xinzi said, sending two bodyguards off to the hospital to treat injuries before leading Chen Xian to the presidential suite.
Upon entering, Guo Xinzi pointed to the master bedroom. “Mr. Chen, this room is for you. I’ll just tidy up my things elsewhere.”
The door opened to reveal clothes hanging neatly and cosmetics arranged on the vanity.
“This is your room. I’ll stay in another one,” Chen Xian politely declined.
In the end, Guo Xinzi gave up her assistant’s room to Chen Xian, while the assistant shared a smaller room with another staff member.
Around 5 p.m., Guo Xinzi knocked on Chen Xian’s door, smiling brightly. “Mr. Chen, it’s mealtime. Let’s go have dinner together.”
Chen Xian nodded and accompanied her to the hotel’s second-floor dining area.
Holding a glass of red wine, Guo Xinzi’s eyes shone as she said, “Mr. Chen, this toast is to thank you for your great help today. I drink to you. If you ever need anything from me in the future, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”
“Miss Guo, you flatter me. Today’s matter was trivial. Anyone else would have helped under similar circumstances,” Chen Xian replied with a smile.
...
By the time they finished dinner, it was already 6 p.m.
After exchanging phone numbers, Guo Xinzi departed first, as she had a major role and performance at the evening’s Jade Stone Gambling Conference opening ceremony.
Chen Xian waited until after 7 p.m. before entering the Guangsheng 80,000-seat stadium.
Despite the high ticket prices, the stadium was packed to capacity, filled with many jade industry magnates from around the world.
The opening ceremony featured eighteen star-studded performances.
The final act was Guo Xinzi herself. As the grand finale, she wore a fiery red, tight leather outfit that accentuated her sultry curves and sported bewitching makeup, captivating every man’s gaze.
Her sizzling hot dance and energetic, fast-paced songs pushed the opening ceremony to its thrilling climax.
As Guo Xinzi finished her performance, the ceremony officially concluded.
Ding, ding, ding!
The clock struck midnight.
The host took the stage and announced loudly, “Now, please give a warm round of applause to the Mayor of JK City!”
Amidst a thunderous ovation, a portly middle-aged man stepped onto the stage. It was the Mayor of JK City. He scanned the crowd and declared in a deep voice, “I hereby solemnly announce: the quinquennial Three Kingdoms Jade Stone Gambling Conference is officially open.”
