Chapter 35 Girlfriend?!
Two hours later.
Chen Xian returned to No. 101, Jinxiu Community. He had just been to the slaughterhouse and signed a long-term contract with the owner for pork supply: one hundred live pigs delivered daily, with the option for more if needed, starting from tomorrow night.
On his way back, he brought back a generous assortment of snacks, all intended for Xiao Mei and the three stray kittens.
He also sent messages to the previous clients who needed treatment for their precious flowers, plants, trees, and ornamental fish, informing them that they could bring their items over by noon today.
Although he now had nearly six hundred million in cash, the money that could be earned still had to be earned.
Once home, Chen Xian had just settled the charming cat and the three stray kittens when—
Ding-dong!
The crisp sound of the doorbell echoed.
“Master, who is it?” Xiao Mei lifted her little head with curiosity.
“It should be people bringing their flowers, birds, and fish for me to treat. You be good and play upstairs. I’ll go down to open the door,” Chen Xian replied, preparing to head downstairs.
“Meow, Master, I’ll go with you,” Xiao Mei said, leaping onto his shoulder.
Chen Xian affectionately stroked the little cat’s head as he walked downstairs and opened the door.
Standing before him was an elderly man, sharp-eyed and spirited, dressed in a martial arts tunic and wearing dark sunglasses. Behind him stood a man in black, holding a potted Buddhist pine bonsai, and further back, a black Bentley was parked.
The old man with the sunglasses greeted Chen Xian with excitement, “Mr. Chen, hello! I am Mo Baishan. We met at the Orchid Hall in Flower and Bird City, where I bought your golden sand chrysanthemum bonsai.”
“Hello, Mr. Mo. Please, come in,” Chen Xian replied with a smile, welcoming Mo Baishan into the living room.
The man in black followed closely, carrying the bonsai.
Three minutes later, before Chen Xian and Mo Baishan could exchange more than a few words, the doorbell rang again.
He opened the door to find a balding middle-aged man accompanied by a driver, who was carrying a five-needle pine bonsai.
As the afternoon went on, more and more people arrived, bringing flowers, birds, fish, and insects, all hoping for Chen Xian’s expert care.
He remained busy until 3:30 p.m., finally seeing the last guest off.
Each visitor left their business card with Chen Xian.
Looking around his living room, now filled with rare plants and ornamental fish—one hundred and twenty items in total, with the cheapest treatment priced at one hundred and fifty thousand each—Chen Xian calculated that curing them all would bring in thirty million.
Checking the time, he saw it was already 3:30 p.m. He had promised to meet Zhang Xin at 4:30 and needed to return home.
Gazing at the room full of plants and animals, he reached up to gently rub the head of the cat perched on his shoulder. “Xiao Mei, stay home and look after everything for me. I need to go home and will be back later tonight. All these snacks are yours!”
With that, he placed a large bag of snacks before the little cat.
Meow~~~
Xiao Mei gave an excited cry as she looked at the treats, nodding her little head and chirping, “Don’t worry, Master. With me here, nothing will happen to the flowers, birds, or fish.”
At 4:30 p.m., Chen Xian arrived at the entrance to the residential area, where a red Lamborghini awaited him. It was just after class, and many students had gathered to watch.
He recognized immediately that the car belonged to Zhang Xin.
A stunning girl, her features exquisite as if carved from jade, her hair tied in a ponytail, and wearing a woolen coat, waved at Chen Xian. It was Zhang Xin herself.
A gentle smile lit her face, brightening the dusk as if the sky itself had become lighter.
Amid the envious and jealous gazes of the boys around, Chen Xian walked up to the car, opened the passenger door, and got in.
“Where to?” Zhang Xin asked with a smile.
“Let’s go to the market first and buy some groceries.”
“All right!”
The powerful engine roared, and the red Lamborghini sped toward the market.
Soon, they arrived and parked. Together, Chen Xian and Zhang Xin entered the market.
“What do you like to eat?” Chen Xian asked.
Zhang Xin’s beautiful eyes flickered playfully. “I’m not picky. Whatever you’re good at, buy that.”
“In that case, I’ll decide,” Chen Xian replied.
He first bought a sea bass, some mantis shrimp, and swimming crabs from the seafood stall, then picked up pork belly, ribs, some beef, and fresh vegetables from the meat and produce stands.
At last, carrying bags big and small, they stopped by the supermarket at the market entrance to buy two bottles of yellow wine and some drinks.
“All done!” Chen Xian declared.
Looking at their hands full of groceries, Zhang Xin broke into a radiant smile. “Let’s go. I’m in for a feast tonight!”
By 5:30 p.m., they arrived at the northern district, parked the car, and Chen Xian carried the groceries and wine upstairs.
“Wait, Chen Xian, let me help with some groceries. You can help me with the other things,” Zhang Xin said.
“What else is in the trunk?” he asked.
Zhang Xin opened it and pulled out a case of Moutai and some health supplements for women.
“Why did you buy these?” Chen Xian asked.
“They’re for your parents!” Zhang Xin replied with a smile.
Chen Xian felt a little embarrassed at her generosity. Those gifts cost at least thirty thousand.
“Don’t just stand there. I’m starving. Hurry up and get dinner started!” she teased.
With no choice, Chen Xian moved to carry the wine and supplements.
They headed to the small elevator, running into Auntie Zhang, a neighbor just home from work.
At the sight of Zhang Xin, Auntie Zhang’s eyes lit up.
“Xian, this is the first time you’ve brought a girl home, and such a beautiful one at that! She’s like a fairy. Your parents will be overjoyed!” Auntie Zhang gushed.
From her tone, it sounded as if Zhang Xin was already his girlfriend.
Worried that Zhang Xin might feel awkward, Chen Xian was about to explain, but Zhang Xin blushed and greeted, “Hello, Auntie!”
“What a lovely girl! Not only beautiful but so polite!” Auntie Zhang praised.
Soon, the elevator reached the seventh floor.
“Xian, I envy your parents for having such a fine son and now such a wonderful girlfriend,” Auntie Zhang muttered with admiration as she stepped out.
“Auntie Zhang, actually—” Chen Xian tried to explain.
But the elevator doors had already closed.
He looked at Zhang Xin a bit awkwardly. “Sorry for the misunderstanding.”
“It’s fine,” the stunning girl replied, her cheeks flushed with shyness.
For some reason, when she heard Auntie Zhang call her Chen Xian’s girlfriend, Zhang Xin’s heart began to race.
Chen Xian stared at the girl, her beauty outshining even the flowers, and found himself momentarily lost.
A hint of intimacy lingered in the air inside the elevator.
Finally, they reached the floor of Chen Xian’s home.
He stepped out and knocked on the door.
“It must be my brother! There’s going to be something delicious tonight!” The door opened, and a pretty face peeked out.
