Chapter 31: The Ring of Storage
In a flash of radiance, an object materialized out of thin air. Upon closer inspection, it was a ring, entirely silver-white, indistinguishable from an ordinary silver band. At that moment, a wisp of consciousness entered Chen Xian’s mind.
“This ring is called the Storage Ring, a spatial treasure. It can be used to store objects—living beings, however, are excluded. If you wish to claim this ring as your own, you must drip a drop of your blood onto it to leave a mark, thus establishing ownership.”
Delight surged through Chen Xian’s heart at this revelation—what perfect timing, as if someone had offered him a pillow just as he was about to sleep!
He paid no mind to the consciousness that had delivered this message. In the past, he had attempted to communicate with it several times, but it had always ignored him with an air of arrogance.
Nor did he concern himself with the bullets that continued to rain down upon him. With a thought, a vortex formed at his brow, slowly whirling until an object emerged and fell into his palm—the silver ring, or more precisely, the Storage Ring.
Chen Xian bit his fingertip, squeezing out a drop of crimson blood, which he let fall onto the ring.
A faint hum arose. The ring trembled lightly, absorbing the blood in an instant. From its surface, delicate ripples of blood spread outward, and strange inscriptions, minute as gnats and flies, appeared, lending it an air of profound mystery.
The phenomenon lasted only ten seconds before the ring returned to normal.
In that instant, Chen Xian sensed a connection forming between himself and the Storage Ring, as if it had become a part of his own body, responsive to his every command.
He extended his mind into the ring—suddenly, with a soft rumble, a portal opened. He “saw” a space inside the ring, vast as a thousand cubic meters.
“Heavens! With such space, even a small mountain could fit inside!” Chen Xian was utterly astonished.
Recovering quickly, he manipulated the Storage Ring, directing it toward the mountains of cash piled within the glass chamber.
Whoosh! The ring slipped from Chen Xian’s palm, flying into the glass room. A vortex coalesced on its surface, spinning slowly, emitting a powerful suction that drew heaps of cash into its depths.
The small ring was like a cosmic black hole, devouring all before it.
In mere seconds, the 596.88 million yuan in cash vanished without a trace, leaving the glass room completely empty.
The sight left Young Master Seven and his men wide-eyed, shocked and furious.
What in the world was that ring? It had swallowed such an enormous sum of money—this was far beyond anyone’s comprehension.
They all felt as if they’d seen a ghost.
“Machine gunners, suppress him with all you’ve got!” Young Master Seven barked decisively. “Everyone else, fall back with me!”
Rattling gunfire erupted as five hidden machine guns in the hall unleashed their fury, bullets pouring down on Chen Xian like a storm, encasing him in a cocoon of lead.
Yet Chen Xian remained utterly unperturbed—the bullets posed no threat to him whatsoever.
Exhilarated, he beckoned, and the Storage Ring floated obediently back to his palm, like a well-behaved child. He slipped it onto his pinky, and though the ring had seemed a bit large, it instantly shrank to fit perfectly.
A cold, sharp light flashed in Chen Xian’s eyes as he gazed at Young Master Seven and his men, who were making a hasty retreat toward the exit.
“None of you will escape today. The gates of prison are already open for you!” Chen Xian declared icily.
No sooner had his words fallen than his form flickered. Cloaked in a hail of bullets, he darted toward the door, moving with ghostly speed.
Reaching each black-clad gunman, Chen Xian struck swiftly at their necks.
Agonized cries rang out as one after another, the armed men collapsed, knocked unconscious.
Soon, only Young Master Seven remained, along with five machine gunners hidden within the hall. Watching his subordinates fall like stalks of grain beneath the scythe, Young Master Seven shrieked in terror, “Someone help! Don’t come any closer! I am a direct descendant of the Ma family, a renowned martial clan. If you dare lay a hand on me, the Ma family will hunt you down with all their might!”
“The Ma family?” The bullet-shrouded man sneered. “They’re nothing.”
With that, he flashed before Young Master Seven and brought his hand down like a blade on the latter’s neck. Even though Young Master Seven was at the peak of internal martial strength, he had no power to resist and fell unconscious.
Immediately after, Chen Xian reached out and swiftly erased all memories of himself from Young Master Seven and the black-clad gunmen.
After all, they had all seen his face.
Behind him, the five machine gunners fired wildly in terror, bullets whizzing toward Chen Xian—yet nothing could stop this man who seemed part god, part demon.
Facing gunfire, Chen Xian charged into the hall…
Thirty seconds later, the gunfire ceased abruptly. The five machine gunners and several accounting staff had all been knocked unconscious, their memories of Chen Xian wiped clean.
The machine guns had expended every last round.
With everything done, Chen Xian closed his eyes to check inwardly, discovering that the mysterious tree in his mind had grown even more solid, and the fifth fruit was absorbing the red energy from the bullets’ attacks, three-quarters condensed.
Seeing this, anticipation filled him. “Before the police storm the casino, I must absorb more attack energy and solidify the fifth fruit!”
With that decision made, Chen Xian snapped his eyes open and glanced at the unconscious enemies littering the floor.
A cold smile played at his lips. “Today, I’ll act as Heaven’s hand, knocking out every armed thug in this casino and sending them all to jail!”
With a final word, he pulled a mask from his large backpack and put it on, then darted out the door, heading for the surveillance room to erase all footage related to himself.
But just then, a new group of black-clad men converged on the currency exchange hall.
Chen Xian’s lips curled into a faint smirk, and with a flash, he charged headlong into the fray.
Bang! Bang! Bang! The black-clad men drew their guns and unleashed a wild barrage at the masked youth…
Time slipped by—over ten minutes passed.
A large force of heavily armed police officers arrived at the entrance of Guangzhou South Casino, only to find the doorway strewn with unconscious, gun-toting men in black.
“What happened here?” Fang Jing, leading the way, was full of puzzlement, her beautiful eyes wide with confusion.
The other officers were equally bewildered.
“Storm the casino! Don’t let anyone escape!” The commander’s voice crackled in their earpieces.
Fang Jing and her team prepared to charge in, but before they could, a crowd of terrified people came rushing out from deeper within the casino, chaotic and frantic.
“Nobody move!”
Half an hour later, the police had taken full control of the scene—without firing a single shot. The submachine guns they had prepared were left unused.
Every enforcer raised by the casino, along with the various gamblers, was rounded up with ease.
It was a simple task, for all the criminals had already lost their fighting power, knocked unconscious.
Even when the operation concluded, the police remained mystified.
They had no idea who had taken out all the armed thugs in the casino.
What’s more, all the casino funds had vanished without a trace!
When the police checked the surveillance footage, they found nothing of use—all footage of the mysterious figure had been taken or destroyed.
…
By this time, Chen Xian had long since reached the foot of the mountain and was making his way toward GN County on foot.
He had already called the taxi driver who had dropped him off that morning; the man was now on his way to pick him up.
A smile played across Chen Xian’s lips and his mood was buoyant, humming a little tune as he walked.
And why wouldn’t he be in high spirits?
Not only had he acquired 596.88 million yuan in cash, but he had also solidified two mysterious fruits.
One of them had produced the Storage Ring; he had yet to reveal the use of the other.
