Chapter Ninety-Four: Liking Her

Chu Bing was startled and sprang off the bed, only to catch sight of those eyes before they had fully closed.

He had already woken up.

The room instantly turned awkward.

Pointing at him, Chu Bing gritted her teeth in fury. “So that’s it—you were awake all along, and you’ve been making a fool of me?”

She had carried this man up from the bottom of a cliff with all her strength, never imagining that he had already been conscious, perhaps laughing at her from behind her back the whole way.

Her eyes blazed with anger. Seeing the medicine and bandages nearby, she grabbed them and flung them at him.

“You bastard! Was it fun teasing me?”

She had nearly exhausted herself to death on the road.

Li Yuxi did not know whether to laugh or cry, his brows and eyes full of indulgence. “I only just woke up. I don’t know anything about what happened before...”

He sounded so innocent that Chu Bing looked at him suspiciously, unable to tell whether he was lying. But his teasing just now had been real.

At that thought, the fire in Chu Bing’s eyes burned even hotter. “At the very least, I count as your savior! Fine if you don’t repay me, but the moment you wake up you start flirting with me!”

“You bastard!”

As she spoke, she snatched up the teapot from the table and hurled it at him. Li Yuxi dodged in embarrassment. Then he saw Chu Bing’s gaze fall on the stool on the floor, and his face finally changed.

If that stool came down on him, he really might lose consciousness for good.

A pitiful look appeared in his deep eyes. He clasped his hands in supplication.

“I slept myself stupid, Miss Chu. Please forgive me...”

Chu Bing shuddered all over, gooseflesh rising on her skin.

Only then did she realize something was off about Li Yuxi. The man was actually pretending to be pitiful.

Li Yuxi, the great fiend, pitiful?

That word had nothing to do with him at all.

It would be enough if he did not think of ways to harm people.

Chu Bing instinctively took a step back, eyeing Li Yuxi warily. “Tell me the truth. What rotten idea are you up to now?”

Li Yuxi looked at her, like an angry little cat with all its fur standing on end, and shook his head. “You saved me. I simply want to repay your kindness.”

Chu Bing froze, unsure whether she should believe him.

This man was full of schemes. It could be yet another plot of his.

But if she could use this chance to make Li Yuxi tell her where Li Haoran was, that would be best of all.

While Chu Bing was still thinking of how to open the conversation, Li Yuxi smiled and said, “Miss Chu has shown me such great kindness. I have nothing with which to repay it. Thinking it over carefully, I can only offer myself in return.”

Those words struck Chu Bing like a hammer to the head.

This man was indeed lying to her! He was teasing her at every turn!

Chu Bing’s chest rose and fell with fury. She rolled up her sleeves, strode straight over, and seized his collar.

“Where is Li Haoran?”

“...Li Haoran?” For an instant, Li Yuxi’s expression went blank.

He looked at the aggressive yet still unmistakably lovely Chu Bing before him and wondered if he had heard wrong.

One Li Mohan was already insult enough. Now there was another Li Haoran?

Chu Bing repeated her question with a stern face. “That’s right, Li Haoran! Where is he now?”

Anyway, the reason she had saved Li Yuxi was to learn Li Haoran’s whereabouts. Rather than continue pretending with him, she might as well force the answer out of him while his injuries had not yet fully healed.

She did not want to keep traveling with this pervert any longer.

A flash of hostility crossed Li Yuxi’s features. “Why are you asking after him? Do you like him?”

When he said like, a trace of killing intent glinted in his eyes.

He would never allow any other man to exist in Chu Bing’s heart.

Chu Bing had no idea why he was suddenly angry. Still, Li Yuxi had always been strange-tempered, so she did not pay it much mind. Instead, she tightened her grip on his collar and forced him to look at her.

“Are you going to talk or not?”

She clenched her other hand into a fist and shook it in front of him. “Listen, you’re just a cripple now. If you anger me, I’ll knock you to death with one punch!”

Chu Bing had once been rather afraid of Li Yuxi, but after thinking it over, she realized he was injured now and was no match for her at all.

What was there to fear?

He was the one who should be afraid.

Yet Li Yuxi showed no sign of anger. His gaze remained fixed on Chu Bing, deep and shadowed. “Then tell me first—have you fallen for Li Haoran?”

Meeting his eyes, she saw how serious he was and suddenly felt that something was not right.

Why was Li Yuxi so fixated on whether she liked Li Haoran?

Shouldn’t he be angry that she was insulting him?

A thought flashed through Chu Bing’s mind. Her eyes widened abruptly.

Could it be that Li Yuxi... had taken a liking to her?

She let go at once and backed away several steps, looking at him with an odd expression.

“Have you lost your mind?”

How could she possibly like Li Haoran?

She did not like anyone. All she wanted was to finish the system’s task as quickly as possible, break free of it, and live her own life.

Though that was what she thought, a figure suddenly surfaced in her mind: a handsome face with a pair of dark eyes. She quickly shook her head. Looking up again, she watched Li Yuxi warily.

Li Yuxi got down from the bed. His steps were very slow, yet his bearing was formidable. With every step he took, Chu Bing retreated one step.

“What is so good about him? He cannot write, cannot fight, and aside from meeting you earlier than I did, what right does he have?” His voice seemed to suppress something dark, every word making Chu Bing’s heart race in alarm.

Chu Bing could not help swallowing nervously, then frantically asked the system in her mind, “What is going on? Has Li Yuxi gone mad?”

The man before her looked far too terrifying.

Wasn’t he injured? Why did he seem even more dangerous now?

The system sighed with pity. “Host, I advise you to run.”

Though Chu Bing sometimes thought the system was pretty unreliable, this time she wholeheartedly agreed.

Li Yuxi was clearly not normal.

She had better leave first. If he really flew into a rage, her life might be in danger.

Stealing a careful glance toward the window, she gathered her courage and said to Li Yuxi, “Since you’re awake now, from this day on, we go our separate ways.”

With that, she turned to flee, but Li Yuxi suddenly seized her wrist, his expression warped with a kind of mad obsession. “Leave? You think you can still get away?”

From the moment he saw Chu Bing in the sea, that girl had been etched into his mind, impossible to erase.

Feeling the strength in Li Yuxi’s grip, Chu Bing grew anxious and could not help cursing, “At the very least, I saved your life. Even if you don’t know how to repay kindness, you don’t need to talk to me like this—how utterly unreasonable!”

She shot him a fierce glare. The clarity in her eyes made Li Yuxi’s chest tighten, and his tone softened before he knew it.

“I only wanted to ask you... whether your heart is occupied by someone else.”

This was bad. This was really bad.

That strange feeling had come again.

Looking at the cautious, tentative air around Li Yuxi, Chu Bing felt a splitting headache. Could it be that Li Yuxi really liked her?
