Chapter 85: What Twisted Logic Is This!

“Of course... I like you!” Chu Bing put on a fawning smile.

Li Yuxi gazed intently at the chubby little face before him, yet what surfaced in his mind was Chu Bing’s original appearance.

He chuckled softly, pinching her cheek. “It really is you. That instinct to seek advantage and avoid harm hasn’t changed a bit.”

Chu Bing pursed her lips and reached out her hand. “Can I have the book now?”

Li Yuxi raised his brows, a youthful arrogance lighting up his features. “That won’t do. If I give it to you so easily, you won’t cherish it.”

What twisted logic was that!

Chu Bing was so angry her nose nearly went crooked, glaring at him with hatred.

Li Yuxi threw his head back and laughed, then wrapped his arm around her waist, and with a burst of strength, leapt with her to the very top of the tallest tree.

Chu Bing screamed in terror, clutching Li Yuxi’s clothes with both hands as tightly as she could.

She buried her face in his chest, wind howling past her ears, and the sensation of weightlessness made her dizzy and lightheaded.

This feeling of having no control over her own body was simply too unsettling!

Li Yuxi looked down at Chu Bing, her eyes squeezed shut, and his smile grew even brighter. “You weren’t telling the truth just now.”

Chu Bing, eyes still closed, shouted, “Nonsense! I was telling the truth!”

“Oh? You truly like me?” Li Yuxi’s brows arched, his eyes gleaming.

Hearing this, Chu Bing’s heart gave a sudden, violent thump. She pressed her lips together but couldn’t bring herself to say the words “I like you.”

The system in her mind was shouting anxiously, “Host, what’s wrong with you! How can you act coy now? Getting the book back is what matters!”

“Shut up!” Chu Bing snapped. “If your disguise technique weren’t so useless, would I have been discovered?”

Furious, the system vanished.

This unlucky host—let her fend for herself!

Li Yuxi, receiving no answer from Chu Bing, suddenly loosened his grip and dropped her.

Chu Bing didn’t even have time to react before she was plummeting toward the ground.

Her heart felt as if it had leapt out of her chest. Her eyes flew open and she screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Li Yuxi, you bastard!”

Hearing her indignant cries, Li Yuxi couldn’t help but curve his lips into a smile. In a flash, he swooped down to catch her by the waist.

Chu Bing was scared half to death!

She clung tightly to Li Yuxi’s waist, terrified he would pull the same stunt again.

She ground her teeth. This pervert! Sooner or later, she’d make him understand that women are not to be trifled with!

Li Yuxi, seeing Chu Bing’s eyes squeezed shut, thought she’d fainted. Raising his brows, he held her in one arm while opening the formation manual with the other.

He was curious—what sort of book could make Chu Bing plead with him over and over?

But as he read, Li Yuxi’s eyes began to shine.

This book listed many formations he’d never even heard of. He was certain that if these formations were released into the world, it would cause a complete upheaval!

And yet, all of these belonged to Chu Bing!

A flicker of doubt crossed his eyes. Who was Chu Bing’s master, that she possessed such strange and powerful formations?

Chu Bing, waiting and waiting for Li Yuxi’s revenge but getting none, couldn’t help but peek open one eye. She saw Li Yuxi completely absorbed in the book, so she leapt up, snatched the manual from his hands, and took off running!

“System, if you don’t help me now, it’ll be too late!” Chu Bing kept using her teleportation skills, but Li Yuxi was relentless in pursuit. Seeing he was about to catch up, she had no choice but to plead with the system.

The system snorted. Though still resentful, it realized that if Chu Bing fell into Li Yuxi’s hands, the books would be his. It finally spoke: “Go south, there’s a cliff that way. Jump off it!”

“You must be joking!” Chu Bing shouted in disbelief. “You’re not trying to kill me just because we argued, are you?”

“Don’t worry, I’m a qualified system!” the system retorted. “If you’d trained more, I wouldn’t have to resort to such desperate measures.”

Chu Bing twitched her lips. “Amazing, you’re even using idioms now.”

“...Hmph!”

Following the system’s directions, Chu Bing teleported her way to the edge of a cliff.

She looked down at the endless expanse below, then back at the persistent Li Yuxi, grit her teeth, and leapt without hesitation.

Li Yuxi reached the cliff just in time to see the flutter of her robe as she disappeared from sight. A look of wildness flashed in his eyes, and he leapt after her without a second thought!

The system had set up a protective shield around Chu Bing, so she wasn’t very frightened. But when she looked up and saw Li Yuxi above her, she couldn’t hide a trace of fear.

“Is Li Yuxi insane? Even after I jumped off a cliff, he still chases me!” Chu Bing muttered.

The system snorted. “Serves you right for provoking him in the first place!”

Li Yuxi spotted Chu Bing, then with a single push of his foot, shot toward her, following the direction of the cliff.

Before Chu Bing could react, Li Yuxi grabbed her tightly.

He held her in both arms and laughed heartily, his voice bright and bold. “Chu Bing, you can’t escape.”

Chu Bing panicked and cursed him, “You lunatic!”

Li Yuxi looked at her, and whispered in her ear, “I am a madman. So without my permission, you’ll never escape.”

Chu Bing, trembling, asked the system, “What do I do now?”

The system...

“What can I do?”

It was utterly hopeless as well!

Who could have guessed Li Yuxi was so deranged, he’d risk his life just to drag Chu Bing back?

Holding Chu Bing with one arm, Li Yuxi drew his sword with the other, plunging it into the cliffside. Sparks flew as the blade bit deep into the rock. Using the sword as leverage, he kicked off and carried Chu Bing back up to solid ground.

Watching his actions, Chu Bing couldn’t help but feel a flicker of admiration.

Back on firm earth, her emotions were suddenly complicated.

For the first time, she truly realized the vast gap between herself and Li Yuxi.

Li Yuxi, noticing her gaze, chuckled softly. “This time, I won’t let you escape again.”

Before Chu Bing could react, Li Yuxi bound her hands and brought her back to the village.

Seeing Chu Bing brought back in bonds, the villagers’ faces showed a hint of ridicule.

Chu Bing glared at them fiercely.

Li Yuxi seemed to notice their looks and swept a cold gaze over them. They immediately lowered their heads, not daring to look again.

Chu Bing snorted, “Dogs looking down on people!”

Li Yuxi laughed lightly. “But they are still my dogs.”
