Chapter 65: Spare Me, Brother
“Sir?” Yun Xin waited for a long time, but Li Yuxi did not answer. Unable to contain herself, she called out softly.
Li Yuxi glanced at her coolly, his tone wicked and unrestrained. “You did well. I am very pleased.”
Yun Xin’s face flushed crimson.
She gazed at Li Yuxi almost obsessively.
She had once glimpsed Li Yuxi’s true face by accident; never had she seen such a handsome man. Compared to him, the county magistrate was simply unbearable to look at.
So when Li Yuxi threatened her with her own life to make her act, she agreed without hesitation.
Li Yuxi noticed the obsession in Yun Xin’s eyes and, deep within his gaze, a flicker of disgust flashed by.
Yet his smile remained alluring. “You’ve completed your task so well, I ought to thank you. How about… coming with me?”
“Yes! I’ll go with you!” Yun Xin replied without a moment’s doubt, her eyes fixed intently on Li Yuxi.
Hidden in the shadows, Chu Bing grew anxious. If Li Yuxi took Yun Xin away, where would she find the red envelope?
But before she could react, Li Yuxi had already left with Yun Xin!
Chu Bing immediately followed.
“System, hurry and remove the disguise from my face!”
She worried that if she ran into Li Yuxi, he would recognize her.
This time, the system did not haggle and directly helped Chu Bing remove the disguise. Using a breath-concealing array and teleportation, Chu Bing kept close behind Li Yuxi.
Li Yuxi moved swiftly—even with someone in tow, he vanished from the alley in a blink.
In her haste, Chu Bing disregarded the risk of exposure and pushed her teleportation ability to its limit.
She followed Li Yuxi to the outskirts, but in the blink of an eye, she lost track of him.
“Where is he?” Chu Bing leaped from a tree, scanning the surroundings, but Li Yuxi was nowhere to be seen.
“Is the little beauty looking for me?” A familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her.
Chu Bing spun around and saw Li Yuxi standing beneath the tree, watching her.
Beside him lay Yun Xin, who had fallen to the ground.
So he had discovered her long ago and was merely toying with her!
---
Chu Bing glared fiercely at Li Yuxi.
Her gaze shifted to Yun Xin on the ground, and her eyes flickered as she tried to figure out how to get the red envelope from her.
Li Yuxi noticed all of Chu Bing’s small movements, a hint of contemplation flashing deep in his eyes, while the smile on his face grew ever more devilish.
He stepped in front of Chu Bing, his eyes brazenly sweeping over her. “A single day without seeing you feels like three autumns. Miss Chu, you grow more beautiful by the day.”
Chu Bing forced a smile. “Thank you for the compliment.”
“I wonder, Miss Chu, why are you following me? Could it be you have feelings for me?” Li Yuxi leaned closer, his voice low and intimate.
His words were barely audible, meant only for the two of them.
Feeling the heat radiating from his body, Chu Bing frowned slightly, uncomfortable, and put some distance between them. Her expression was cold as she said, “You’re mistaken. I’m here for her.”
She pointed at Yun Xin on the ground.
Yun Xin glared at Chu Bing with jealousy in her eyes. She liked men like Li Yuxi, strong in martial arts. She had thought that being taken by him was their chance together, but unexpectedly, Chu Bing appeared out of nowhere!
This woman was a persistent shadow—she turned up everywhere!
Sensing Yun Xin’s hostility, Chu Bing raised an eyebrow indifferently and strode toward her.
She had to get the red envelope from Yun Xin.
But Li Yuxi suddenly moved to grab her wrist.
Chu Bing froze and tried to break free, but Li Yuxi’s martial arts were far superior—she was no match.
“Let go!” Chu Bing gritted her teeth.
The red envelope was within reach, and the feeling of losing something just as she was about to obtain it was unbearable!
Li Yuxi’s lips curled into a smile. “Miss Chu, that woman is still useful to me. If you kill her, my losses would be considerable.”
“Unless…”
He was about to say, unless Chu Bing agreed to help him, but Chu Bing rolled her eyes and snorted coldly, “Why would I kill her? I just need to speak with her!”
Yun Xin, terrified, waved her hands frantically. “Don’t listen to her nonsense! She wants to kill me!”
Chu Bing’s previous actions had left Yun Xin petrified—she refused to believe anything Chu Bing said.
---
Yun Xin looked at Li Yuxi, her eyes filled with hope. This man was so powerful; surely he could subdue Chu Bing. If only he would kill Chu Bing, then she’d never have to be afraid again!
Tempted by this sudden idea, Yun Xin’s eyes brimmed with tears as she pleaded, “Sir, this woman is crafty and constantly opposes me, ruining my affairs time and again. You must not let her go!”
Chu Bing twitched her lips. Clearly Yun Xin had not figured out the situation—she thought Li Yuxi was the county magistrate!
Did she really believe Li Yuxi would help her?
As expected, Li Yuxi didn’t even spare Yun Xin a glance. Instead, he waved his hand, and two men in black leapt out from elsewhere, disregarding Yun Xin’s struggles as they took her away.
Chu Bing tried to seize the red envelope, but in a blink, the world spun and she found herself being lifted into the air!
Li Yuxi had wrapped one arm around her waist, the other pressing her hands together, and carried her to the very top of a tall tree.
When Chu Bing came to her senses, all she saw was the lush canopy and clear sky.
Such beautiful scenery...
Chu Bing was terrified.
“Brother! Please! I was wrong, have mercy!”
Now Li Yuxi had her firmly in his grasp, and she couldn’t control her own strength. If he let go, she would fall and be smashed to pieces!
Her life was at stake, and Chu Bing couldn’t care about propriety—she clung to Li Yuxi with both hands and feet, like an octopus wrapped around him.
A trace of amusement flashed in Li Yuxi’s eyes, but when he spoke, his voice was icy cold. “Who are you, really? Why are you following me?”
“I’m not following you! I’m following Yun Xin!” Chu Bing shouted, her eyes squeezed shut.
She felt so wronged!
Li Yuxi didn’t believe her for a moment. Though Chu Bing’s martial arts were not as good as his, she was still considered a skilled fighter in the martial world. More importantly, her methods were mysterious; from many incidents, he could tell she was no ordinary person. Why would such a woman follow Yun Xin, an ordinary girl?
She was definitely here for him!
Li Yuxi’s eyes grew colder, his lips curving in a faint smile. “It doesn’t matter if you won’t speak. There are only so many enemies I have—I’ll investigate them all, and eventually discover where you come from.”
Before Chu Bing could react, he suddenly let go.
“Ah!” Chu Bing squeezed her eyes shut in terror.
