Chapter Sixteen: Departure

“What? Where are they?” Jiang Li asked anxiously.
Those idiots Qin Lang and the others had actually stumbled upon this place. If they accidentally led the natives behind them here, it would cause no end of trouble.
“Young Master, there’s no need to worry. They’re at the seaside, following the marks we left behind,” Su Yang hurriedly replied.
Jiang Li pondered for a while before a sly grin spread across his face. “In that case, this might actually be rather interesting.”
“Zhao Hua, Xu Ming, Xu Lei, Chu Chunqiu, and Su Yang—we’re leaving.”
“Qiuyue, Suyan, you two stay in the cave.”
After speaking, Jiang Li hurriedly led the others as they cautiously crawled out of the cave.
“My lord, there are quite a few of us now. We could simply kill them all,” Su Yang whispered.
Without even thinking, Jiang Li shook his head. “No. We may have enough people, but fighting them would still cost us one or two lives. It wouldn’t be worth it.”
“Besides, we have free muscle.”
As he spoke, Jiang Li turned his gaze toward Zhao Hua and the others. “You said earlier that a group of natives was chasing you. Very well, we’re going to turn around and look for them.”
“What?!” Zhao Hua was badly startled.
He knew better than anyone what those natives were capable of. They had barely been able to escape them, yet Jiang Li was suggesting that they turn back and seek them out.
It was like a mouse licking a cat’s backside—practically begging to die.
“What are you yelling about? Do you still want the antidote next time?” Jiang Li said lightly.
“Yes! Of course we do. Whatever you say, Young Master. We’ll do exactly as you command,” Zhao Hua hurriedly replied.
Jiang Li gave a mocking chuckle and waved his hand grandly. “The three of you, lead the way.”
Zhao Hua and the other two sighed and began making their way through the dense forest.
Half an hour later, Jiang Li and his companions were lying in the grass, watching from afar as a group of natives searched the mountains and forests.
“Didn’t you say there were only a dozen or so? Why are there even more now?” Jiang Li muttered.
He sprang to his feet, filled his lungs, and bellowed toward the distance.
“Qin Lang!”
In an instant, the natives, who had been silent moments before, charged toward them as if they had gone mad.
“Run for it!”
Jiang Li shouted and immediately took off.
A short while later, he looked back at the natives, who had gradually come to a halt, and stamped his feet in frustration. “What’s going on? Why did they stop chasing us so quickly?”
Zhao Hua could not help giving a bitter smile. That group of natives had chased them all night. The fact that they still had enough strength left to stand and run at all was already impressive.

“Qin Lang! Qin Lang!”
Without a second thought, Jiang Li shouted again.
The natives, upon hearing those two words, seemed to have been injected with a stimulant. They once more brandished their wooden spears and charged forward.
This time, with Jiang Li deliberately slowing his pace, the natives chased them several miles in one breath. They were now close enough to make out the figures of Qin Lang and the others.
“Zhao Hua, you shout!” Jiang Li ordered without hesitation.
With his life still in Jiang Li’s hands, Zhao Hua naturally had no way to resist. He immediately threw back his head and shouted at the top of his lungs.
At the same time, Qin Lang, who was walking at the very front, suddenly stopped and turned around, looking toward the rear in delight.
“I heard Zhao Hua and the others!”
Beside him, Lu Ren could not stop trembling. “Brother Qin, why don’t we just forget it? Think about what happened yesterday.”
“It was like seeing ghosts. Every time someone called out to us, we rushed over, only to find that same group of natives waiting for us. I’ve been running so much that my legs are weak.”
Qin Lang licked his dry lips. He had been running since yesterday without drinking a drop of water, and he was indeed exhausted.
“No. This time I heard it clearly. Zhao Hua and the others are definitely there. If we don’t get those few people to join us, we won’t have enough men to compete with Jiang Li.”
“Hurry up. This is our last chance.”
When Jiang Li saw Qin Lang heading toward him, he did not hesitate either. He led everyone straight toward them.
Soon, Qin Lang and the others realized that something was wrong.
“Brother Qin, that’s—that’s Jiang Li and his people!”
“No, wait. There are natives following behind them. It looks like they’ve joined up with Zhao Hua!”
Qin Lang gradually slowed his steps. Only after a long moment did he speak.
“Looks like Jiang Li got dragged into this somehow. But that’s a good thing.”
“They have several people on their side as well. If we join forces, we won’t have to fear these natives.”
“Besides, once we succeed, we can eliminate Jiang Li afterward.”
After a frantic dash, Jiang Li and the others soon arrived in front of Qin Lang’s group.
“Qin Lang!”
Jiang Li smiled warmly and clasped Qin Lang’s hands.
“Ah, it’s been several days. I’ve missed you terribly.”
Qin Lang smiled indifferently. “What’s this? Young Master Jiang looks rather disheveled. Is it because of those natives behind you?”
“You didn’t come here hoping I’d save you, did you? That can be arranged, but let’s agree on the terms first. I want Qiuyue!”
“That is my only condition. Tell me where Qiuyue is, or I absolutely will not help you.”
Jiang Li looked at Qin Lang with a smile that did not reach his eyes. “That may be true, but it’s still hard to say who will be saving whom in a moment.”

“What do you mean?” Qin Lang’s expression changed.
By then, Wolf Fang had already led the natives over. When he saw the nearly ten people before him, he could not help freezing in surprise.
There were too many of them. If he killed them all, he feared that very few people would remain at his side in the end.
At that moment, however, Jiang Li suddenly retreated and quickly pointed at Qin Lang.
“Qin Lang!”
Wolf Fang paused for a moment before turning to look at Jiang Li.
Jiang Li nodded solemnly, pretending to be certain. “Qin Lang!”
As he spoke, Jiang Li pointed at Qin Lang again. Then, under the incomprehending gazes of Qin Lang and the others, he began performing a series of exaggerated gestures.
First he pointed at Qin Lang, then at the distant valley where the natives lived, all while putting on an air of secrecy and conspiracy.
“Chief Wolf Fang, is he saying that this fellow is Qin Lang?” one of the natives asked, approaching Wolf Fang.
Wolf Fang nodded repeatedly. “It must be so. I never thought that fellow would be so despicable, actually luring us into chasing other people. What shameless treachery!”
“Young Master, what are they muttering about?” Zhao Hua asked nervously.
Jiang Li rolled his eyes irritably. If he could understand them, he would have told them already. Why would he have wasted all this time making a fool of himself with gestures?
The others understood nothing, but Wolf Fang certainly did. He let out a strange cry toward Jiang Li.
Jiang Li froze. He hurriedly pulled Chu Chunqiu and the others backward, adopting an attitude that said the matter had nothing to do with him and he wanted no part in it.
“Jiang Li, you set me up?” Qin Lang roared when he finally realized what had happened.
“Wah-ka-ka!”
With Wolf Fang’s furious howl, the many natives charged forward at once.
Without saying another word, Qin Lang turned and ran.
“Young Master, what do we do now? Should we help them?” Su Yang asked.
Jiang Li waved his hand. “There’s no need. Let them tear each other apart.”
“As for us, we’re leaving. We’re heading out to find that little city!”
