Chapter Ninety-Five: The Perfect Match
“Master, what’s going on?” Although Rider still couldn’t grasp what had happened here, he sensed the gravity of the situation. He and Weber had rushed over as soon as they saw the strange phenomena caused by Lancer. With his mobility, almost no time had passed, yet clearly something beyond their understanding was unfolding.
“I’m not sure either… but it seems we’ve fallen into a trap.” Lancer had disappeared, Archer had committed suicide—no matter how foolish, they should have realized someone was pulling the strings behind this.
Sure enough, applause echoed from the shadows.
“The fourth has arrived as well. So eager—it seems today is the day to settle this once and for all. Once it’s over, Weber, would you be interested in working for me?” Roland stepped out, flanked by a battle-ready Saber and Caster, his expression brimming with confidence as he faced Weber and Rider.
“Was all this your doing? Did you kill Lancer and his Master too?” Weber asked seriously, ignoring the provocations.
“Not exactly,” Roland replied with a troubled look. “Though I know the truth, these events stem solely from human greed and unwillingness to accept fate. At best, I’m merely a spectator.”
“So, you’re targeting us next?” Weber’s face darkened. There was no doubt about the power of Archer and Lancer. To face someone who had manipulated both Servants so effortlessly, he wasn’t arrogant enough to think he stood a chance.
“Not entirely,” Roland answered decisively, though his vague response only deepened Weber’s confusion.
“What do you mean…”
Before Roland could reply, Rider patted Weber’s shoulder and spoke in a heavy voice, “Look to the sky.”
The Golden King, pierced through the heart, calmly met Roland’s gaze from above.
“Once again, we meet, god from another world.”
“You’re still alive?” Roland said with some surprise. “Even with an A rank for solo operations, surviving such an order seems impossible.”
“Of course it’s impossible. But if they intended to end me, the command to self-destruct should have been given with the first Command Seal. Leaving room for resistance gave me a chance.”
Gilgamesh glanced at Medea beside Roland, casually pulled a dagger from his chest, and tossed it aside.
“As for how I managed this, with that witch by your side, I need not explain.”
With his All-Knowing, All-Powerful Noble Phantasm activated, Gilgamesh could easily discern Caster’s true name.
“The original of my Noble Phantasm,” Medea exclaimed. “He used this dagger to commit suicide just now, so the contract was severed before his spiritual core was completely destroyed.”
The Archer in his serious form was hardly someone to be trifled with. Yet now, despite the contract being broken, he lacked the fury he had moments ago, as if he had lost interest in taking revenge on Kirei Kotomine.
Gilgamesh quietly observed the magical array Darnic left behind, then spoke.
“Rider, do you still desire to conquer the Holy Grail?”
“Of course! Archer, do you want it too?” Rider’s eyes suddenly gleamed with bold resolve. Archer narrowed his eyes and shot him an annoyed glance but ultimately nodded.
“Indeed. Join forces with me.”
Gilgamesh fell silent for a moment, reluctantly admitting, “Though I hate to admit it, alone before him, I doubt I have much chance to resist.”
“But you’re so confident against Saber,” Archer’s words piqued Gilgamesh’s curiosity. He turned to Roland and asked, “How strong are the Masters of these two Riders to make you so cautious?”
“You will most likely meet your end at his hands.”
“What a thrilling answer, Master,” Iskandar smiled heartily, turning to Weber. “I agree. If you desire victory, Rider, you must seize every power you can.”
“Then I have no objections,” the red-haired giant said apologetically to Roland. “Though it may be an unfair victory, I’m sorry, Caster’s Master.”
“It’s fine. Even combined, you and Archer cannot match my Stand. So go ahead and do your best.”
Roland’s words surprised Rider, but his fighting spirit flared up once more.
“Then I won’t hold back!”
Iskandar grinned broadly and summoned his strongest Noble Phantasm again.
As the endless desert winds blew, the boundary between fantasy and reality blurred once more. Thirty thousand soldiers appeared behind Rider in perfect formation.
Seeing this, Gilgamesh nodded quietly.
“With such numbers, though I doubt you can break that strange rule, you have enough time to delay.”
“Then don’t just talk—Archer, you seem off your game, and your contract appears severed. Can you manage?”
“Merely a mortal wound. Don’t underestimate me.”
Gilgamesh sneered at Rider’s taunt, his smile turning fierce.
“Though my spiritual core is shattered and I will die after today, the magic supplied by the large grail used as substitute will only grow more abundant.”
“Oh! That’s truly invigorating news. But don’t let it affect my army!”
“That won’t happen,” Gilgamesh said coldly. “If something goes wrong, I’ll be dead before you. That’s not the outcome I desire. So I will aid you in a different way.”
“A different way?” Iskandar scratched his head, bewildered, then suddenly slapped his palm.
“Could it be…”
“Hmph,” Gilgamesh scoffed lightly. “Rejoice. This treatment was once reserved only for the people of Uruk, but as an exception today, my King’s Treasure will provide you with weapons.”
With Archer’s voice, countless golden ripples spread again. One after another, Noble Phantasms imbued with the radiance of fantasy descended, grasped by the perfectly arrayed soldiers behind the Conqueror King.
Combining the King’s Army with the King’s Treasure.
The strongest army of this age wielded genuine Noble Phantasms. Such an extraordinary display brought a wide smile to Iskandar’s face.
Two top-tier kings commanding a sweeping army and mythical weapons—their union made Iskandar’s smile eager and full of anticipation.
“Heroic King, you are truly understanding. From the first time I saw your attack, I had such thoughts.”
“Your King’s Treasure combined with my King’s Army is the perfect match. United, we could conquer even the farthest stars!”
“Don’t make me laugh. Just try to buy as much time as you can.”
“Then I’ll show you how!”
Iskandar raised his sword and let out a thunderous roar.
“Warriors, show our might to the enemy!”
“AAAAlalalalala—!”
The heroic spirits’ battle cries blended into a storm that shook the heart.
Iskandar charged at the enemy at the forefront, his army following closely. With only three opponents, no elaborate tactics were needed—just a charge.
Because now, the King’s Army was an unmatched force in this world, without flaws!
No matter the enemy, they were confident of victory.
“Trample them—!”
“Truly spectacular,” Roland murmured, watching the countless soldiers advancing with unshakable resolve.
“Alas, no matter the numbers, the outcome remains the same.”
He wore a radiant expression. Behind him, the Killer Queen quietly appeared, finger poised on the trigger.
“The moment you turn hostile toward me, each of you has already been marked by the Killer Queen.”
That’s it for today. Let’s take a breather, the story’s about to wrap up soon.
