Chapter 53: The KTV Incident
Nie Yunyang was entirely unconcerned; after all, Xiang Sixuan was there to clean up his messes. Even if he beat a few people half to death, the worst he would face was paying some medical bills.
Right now, he had to salvage the pride Xiang Tao had lost, or that tigress wouldn't let the matter rest.
Standing his ground, Nie Yunyang effortlessly handled the coordinated attacks of six burly men. They were already dead drunk, with sluggish limbs and clumsy movements, rendering them completely incapable of landing a single blow on him.
A few minutes later, all six hulking figures had been subdued by Nie Yunyang, sprawling across the ground and howling in agony.
The scene looked straight out of a kung fu movie, and the surrounding crowd cheered in delight.
Xiang Tao had initially intended to drag his classmates in to help, but he soon realized he didn't even need to lift a finger—with just three punches and four kicks, Nie Yunyang had knocked all those thugs flat on their backs.
Nie Yunyang’s dazzling moves left Xiang Tao dazzled. Only now did he realize that Nie Yunyang hadn't been boasting earlier; he was truly a martial arts expert!
Taking a deep breath, Nie Yunyang said, "If there's something to discuss, discuss it peacefully. Did you really have to resort to violence? Regret it now, don't you?"
After such a prolonged commotion, the local patrol police finally arrived. Regardless of the specifics, everyone involved in the brawl was rounded up and taken away.
The three female students were the exception. Xiang Tao tossed his phone to his campus goddess and instructed, "Call my aunt and tell her I've been beaten up."
The campus goddess nodded slightly, quickly picked up her phone, and dialed Xiang Tao's aunt.
Splendid Gardens.
In a private dining room, the gracefully poised Xiang Sixuan was sipping red wine from her glass while chatting with several close friends.
Seeing Xiang Tao's call, Xiang Sixuan assumed he had safely reached home and directly declined it. When discussing business, she generally avoided answering phone calls unless it was an absolute emergency.
The campus goddess on the other end grew anxious upon being hung up on and dialed again.
Xiang Sixuan’s phone buzzed incessantly. Noticing it was still Xiang Tao calling, her delicate brows furrowed slightly. Little Tao was well aware of her habits; normally, once she declined a call, he wouldn't call back a second time, and she would return the call once she finished her work.
With the phone ringing continuously now, something serious must have happened!
"Sixuan, is it an urgent matter?" asked an elderly man with white hair.
Xiang Sixuan smiled faintly and said, "Elder Tong, I apologize. Please continue chatting, I'll step outside to take this call."
Walking out of the private room, she pressed the answer button and asked, "Tao, are you home yet?"
"Auntie, I'm Ye Wei, Xiang Tao's classmate. Xiang Tao was beaten up and has been taken away by the police. He asked me to call you."
A strange girl's voice came through the other end of the line.
Xiang Sixuan was momentarily stunned before her expression turned grim. She asked, "Where are you right now?"
"I'm at High-Profile Pure KTV in Three Gorges Square," Ye Wei replied.
"Alright, I'm on my way."
With that, Xiang Sixuan hung up the phone.
Returning to the private room immediately, she informed her friends that she had a sudden urgent matter to attend to, and everyone expressed their understanding.
Deeply furious, Xiang Sixuan tracked down Dai Zhenxuan and demanded that he contact Nie Yunyang immediately. She had instructed Nie Yunyang to escort Xiang Tao home, so how could this sort of incident have happened?
If any harm came to Xiang Tao, Xiang Sixuan would not let Nie Yunyang off lightly.
Hearing this, Dai Zhenxuan quickly reassured her, "Sixuan, don't panic. I'll figure out a way to reach him right now."
However, neither Dai Zhenxuan nor He Lei could get through to Nie Yunyang's phone, leaving them with no choice but to contact High-Profile Pure KTV directly.
Before long, Dai Zhenxuan learned that Xiang Tao and the others had been taken to the Shapingba Police Station, and he hurriedly rushed toward No. 103, Shapingba Main Street, accompanied by Xiang Sixuan.
Along the way, Xiang Sixuan immediately leveraged her connections to reach out to the head of the Shapingba Police Station.
Consequently, when Nie Yunyang and Xiang Tao were brought into the station, they merely had to fill out two statements, whereas the thugs were handcuffed and dragged into the interrogation rooms for questioning.
"Which one of you is the young master of the Xiang family?"
The precinct chief was quite young, serving tea and water with a beaming smile while instructing the duty officers to clean the wounds of the students.
Xiang Tao stepped forward and said, "I am."
"Miss Xiang will be here shortly to pick you up."
For a precinct chief to be so flattering was a truly shocking spectacle.
Xiang Tao was unaccustomed to such occasions, but having met high-ranking officials before, a mere police station chief wasn't worth his attention.
Waving a hand dismissively, he said, "Go tend to your duties. If I need anything, I'll call you."
The precinct chief smiled awkwardly and was just about to leave when Nie Yunyang stepped in to smooth things over, "Chief Han, sorry to bother you today."
"Not at all, it's only right. I'll get back to work then, you all take a good rest."
Han Junliang left with a smile.
It was only after hearing the police officers address Han Junliang by that name that Nie Yunyang learned his surname.
Once Han Junliang had walked out of earshot, Nie Yunyang pulled out his Xiaomi 11 phone and discovered numerous missed calls. Realizing that the people over at Splendid Gardens had received word, he immediately called Dai Zhenxuan back.
Upon receiving the call, Dai Zhenxuan let out a sigh of relief and asked, "Yunyang, I finally got through to you. What on earth happened?"
Before Nie Yunyang could speak, Xiang Sixuan snatched the phone from Dai Zhenxuan and barked fiercely, "Nie Yunyang, where is Xiang Tao? Let me tell you, if he loses even a single hair, I won't let you off!"
"Your aunt."
Too lazy to explain, Nie Yunyang handed the phone directly to Xiang Tao.
Taking the receiver, Xiang Tao hurriedly placated her, "Auntie, I'm fine. This matter has nothing to do with Brother Nie; in fact, he saved me."
Xiang Sixuan on the other end of the line immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Having finished his call, Xiang Tao returned the Xiaomi 11 to Nie Yunyang with a grin, saying, "Don't worry, my aunt won't blame you."
Nie Yunyang didn't care in the slightest, took back his phone, and slipped it into his pocket.
Twenty minutes later, after Nie Yunyang had finished smoking a cigarette, Dai Zhenxuan and Xiang Sixuan hurried over, guided by a police officer from the station.
Upon spotting Xiang Sixuan, Xiang Tao ran straight over, threw his arms around her, and muttered softly, "I'm sorry, Auntie, for making you worry."
Seeing the bloody scratch on Xiang Tao's face, Xiang Sixuan's heart ached profoundly. "Tao, you've suffered."
"Auntie, I'm alright," Xiang Tao replied.
Gently stroking his cheek, Xiang Sixuan asked, "How are your classmates?"
"Just minor scrapes and bruises, nothing fatal," said Xiang Tao.
Xiang Sixuan looked over at the five male students. Each of them was beaten black and blue, looking far worse off than Xiang Tao, and her expression darkened considerably.
She stood up and said, "Chief Han, handle this matter strictly according to the law. No matter who backs those scumbags, if they have the guts, let them come find me. I want to see which official dares to bend the law for personal favors."
"Miss Xiang, rest assured, Director Cai has already given instructions. I will handle this matter with utmost severity," Han Junliang assured her.
As Xiang Tao's aunt, Xiang Sixuan made sure to inquire about the conditions of the other students before finally turning her gaze to Nie Yunyang, who was standing quietly off to the side.
Nie Yunyang's expression remained tranquil, as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
Walking over to him, Xiang Sixuan said, "Nie Yunyang, I apologize for my harsh attitude on the phone just now. Please don't take it to heart."
"It's fine," Nie Yunyang replied indifferently.
Xiang Sixuan continued, "Tonight, if it weren't for you, Tao would have been in real danger..."
"Miss Xiang, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave and go retrieve your car," Nie Yunyang interrupted.
Hearing these words, Dai Zhenxuan smiled wryly and shook his head—this young man certainly possessed quite the haughty pride!
To ease the awkward atmosphere, Dai Zhenxuan chimed in, "Yunyang, there's nothing more for you here. Go ahead and drive Miss Xiang's car back, and then you can call it a day."
"Alright."
Without another word, Nie Yunyang turned and walked away.
Watching his retreating figure, Xiang Sixuan wore a complex expression. This young man seemed deliberately to keep his distance from her, which only served to arouse her deep curiosity.
"Old Dai, who on earth recruited this Nie Yunyang into Splendid Gardens?" Xiang Sixuan asked.
After a moment of hesitation, Dai Zhenxuan replied, "Sixuan, there are some things I simply cannot say. Please try to understand."
"Given our relationship, is there really anything we can't discuss?" she pressed.
Dai Zhenxuan sighed. "For this matter, you'd better ask Nie Yunyang yourself. It's truly not convenient for me to disclose anything."
"Fine, I won't make things difficult for you then."
Being an intelligent woman, Xiang Sixuan guessed the hidden reasons behind his silence; the only person who could make someone like Dai Zhenxuan seal his lips so tightly was the mysterious big boss behind Splendid Gardens.
Having spent half an hour at the police station where all procedures were completed, Nie Yunyang drove Xiang Sixuan's Mercedes-AMG S63 back, choosing to take a taxi for his own return trip.
When he arrived back at Jinke Jiuxuhe, Mu Qingyao had not yet gone to sleep, clearly waiting up for someone.
Seeing him return, she asked, "How come you're back so late today?"
"Ran into a few things. Why haven't you rested yet?" Nie Yunyang countered.
Mu Qingyao was naturally waiting for him, though she felt too shy to admit it directly. She casually answered, "I stayed behind to catch up on some work and wasn't very tired yet."
"Get some rest early."
Feeling a bit fatigued, Nie Yunyang offered a faint smile.
Mu Qingyao, however, told him to wait a moment. "I've found an apartment for you guys over on Jiulong Street. The rent isn't expensive, and it's very close to where you work. If you have time tomorrow, go take a look. If it seems decent, you can move in there for now."
"Alright, I'll go check it out with you guys tomorrow morning," Nie Yunyang agreed.
Mu Qingyao smiled softly. "I'm heading to bed then. You get some rest early too."
Nodding, Nie Yunyang retreated to his own room.
