To pick it up or not?

Holding the Mercedes car keys, Nie Yunyang found himself in a difficult dilemma.

President Dai would be arriving very soon. Since it was his first day on the job, Nie Yunyang certainly could not stand him up. However, if he refused, the woman in the black uniform was clearly not someone to be trifled with—she must be a member of the Splendid Mansion. As an employee of the club, it was naturally his duty to resolve troubles for distinguished guests.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Nie Yunyang decided to handle the request, but he needed to notify President Dai first. Yet, his calls kept failing to get through.

Left with no other option, he hurried inside to find the security manager, only to be told by the staff that Manager Gao was currently in a meeting.

Helpless, Nie Yunyang instructed the front desk receptionist to inform Manager Gao once his meeting concluded that he had to step out for a while.

Following that, Nie Yunyang sent a text message to Dai Zhenxuan.

Having finished all this, he finally got into the Mercedes-AMG S63 and drove toward Nankai Secondary School to pick someone up.

Nie Yunyang was not unfamiliar with Nankai Secondary School. Located in the Shapingba District, it was one of the finest secondary schools in Chongqing. Situated not far from Red Lion Avenue, the drive there would take about twenty minutes.

When he arrived at the gates of Nankai Secondary School, President Dai had neither contacted him nor replied to his text message, which indeed seemed rather unusual.

Nie Yunyang parked the Mercedes-AMG S63 by the roadside and waited patiently, but no one emerged from the school gates. With nothing else to do, he lit a cigarette and smoked while waiting.

At half-past twelve, a plump male student walked up to the Mercedes and asked arrogantly, "Are you the new driver my aunt hired?"

"She's currently busy and unable to come, so I've been sent to pick you up," Nie Yunyang replied.

The student looked skeptical and said, "I don't think you look like a good guy. Did you steal this car, or are you trying to kidnap me?"

"Get in the car. I'm in a hurry," Nie Yunyang said with a straight face, lacking the energy to bicker with a brat.

Refusing to budge, the student ordered, "Open the trunk right now."

With no choice, Nie Yunyang complied. To his surprise, the moment he opened the trunk, the student tossed his luggage inside and coldly declared, "I have some business to attend to. Wait for me right here."

"How long will you be?" Nie Yunyang asked.

Flaring up instantly, the student snapped, "None of your business! Just wait properly, I'll be right back."

With that, the student strode away arrogantly. Nie Yunyang felt profoundly depressed, wondering if he had failed to check the lunar calendar before going out today, leading him to encounter such an eccentric pair of aunt and nephew.

Nie Yunyang initially wanted to fling a retort at the student: *"Screw you, take your sweet time walking or not!"*

However, upon second thought, there was no point in arguing with a brat, so he simply followed after him.

The student wound his way through the streets and finally entered a residential complex.

Quietly tailing him, Nie Yunyang discovered three other high school students standing opposite him, the two sides locked in a tense standoff.

"Oh, Xiang Tao, you've grown some backbone, haven't you? Even learned to bring backup."

One of the high school students spotted Nie Yunyang and assumed he was a hired thug brought along by the male student.

The student named Xiang Tao turned around, glared at Nie Yunyang, and fiercely scolded, "Who told you to follow me? Why aren't you getting back immediately?"

"I'm just here to watch the show. I have no intention of helping you," Nie Yunyang said.

The three high school students exchanged uncertain glances. However, being athletic students with robust physiques, they were not afraid of Nie Yunyang, even if a fight broke out.

"Liu Chang, Yu Kai, Li Ming, whatever is between us today has nothing to do with him. Aren't you guys always fond of bullying me at school? Today I'm going to duel you and see who has more guts!" Xiang Tao declared.

Hearing this, the three high school students burst into roaring laughter. "Ha! Xiang Tao, were you kicked in the head by a donkey? You want to duel us? You really don't know your own limits. Forget about you alone—even if we add your little backup here, it still wouldn't be enough for us to beat!"

"Damn it, I'm going to finish you bastards off."

Possessing an exceptionally volatile temper, Xiang Tao charged forward to start a fight.

Nie Yunyang had assumed this fellow was tough and rugged enough that, even if he couldn't defeat the other three, he wouldn't completely lose the upper hand. To his surprise, Xiang Tao was immediately pinned to the ground and beaten mercilessly.

"Aah! Aah!"

Xiang Tao let out blood-curdling screams.

Seeing that Nie Yunyang made no move to intervene, Liu Chang and his friends confirmed that he was indeed not Xiang Tao's backup, which made their blows even heavier and more reckless.

However, Xiang Tao was not entirely foolish. Realizing he stood zero chance against three opponents simultaneously attacking him, he grabbed Li Ming's ankle, pulled him down to the ground, and began wrestling with him.

This small-scale conflict lasted a mere ten minutes before coming to an abrupt end, leaving Nie Yunyang, who had been watching from the sidelines, deeply disappointed.

"Weren't you acting all high and mighty? Weren't you going to duel us? A loser like you actually wants to chase Lin Wanyi? Let me catch you harassing her again, and I'll cripple you."

Liu Chang spat on the ground and said with utter disdain.

Xiang Tao had taken a terrible beating; his head was swollen like a pig's, leaving him with no strength whatsoever to talk back.

"Still not convinced?"

Seeing Xiang Tao glaring at him fiercely, Liu Chang delivered three more kicks, sending the boy spinning in dizziness.

"Let's go, my treat! A grand meal on me!"

In high spirits, Liu Chang led Yu Kai and Li Ming away from the residential complex.

As the three of them passed by Nie Yunyang, they cast unfriendly glances in his direction. Instead of getting angry, Nie Yunyang smiled and said, "Take your time, I won't see you out."

Hearing those words, Xiang Tao felt as though his lungs were about to burst with rage.

Nie Yunyang walked over and taunted, "Kid, weren't you acting all wild? How did you end up getting beaten up this badly? If you're going to pick a fight, at least bring some backup. Did you really think you were the Monkey King Sun Wukong, taking on a hundred thousand heavenly soldiers all by yourself?"

"Absolute moron, get away from me."

With a dark expression, Xiang Tao cursed viciously.

Nie Yunyang raised an eyebrow. "Well, well, kid. You can't beat others, so you're taking your anger out on me?"

"Why didn't you help me? Coward, you only know how to stand by and watch the show."

Xiang Tao crawled up from the ground, touched his bruises, and winced in pain, his face contorted.

With a blank expression, Nie Yunyang asked, "Are you trying to teach me how to do my job?"

"Screw your mother, you spineless bastard," Xiang Tao cursed bitterly.

As the saying went, patience has its limits. Having been repeatedly insulted by Xiang Tao, Nie Yunyang's anger surged straight to the peak.

With a cold, fierce glint in his eyes, he said, "Kid, since your parents failed to teach you any manners, I'll help them out."

With that, Nie Yunyang swung his hand and delivered a hard slap.

*Slap!*

Struck by a heavy blow, Xiang Tao was sent spinning in dizziness before crashing to the ground, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.

Unlike the high school students, Nie Yunyang held back no mercy. He put real strength into this slap—not enough to kill, but enough to teach the other party an unforgettable lesson.

Sitting slumped on the ground, Xiang Tao burst into tears. He had never expected that this man, who looked merely like a driver, could act with such ruthless severity!
