104. The Holiday Resort
“On the first day of the college entrance exam, a candidate went to the wrong test site; traffic police on motorcycles successfully escorted them to the correct location.”
“A girl forgot her exam admission ticket on the bus, and everyone worked together to help retrieve it.”
“A candidate for the foreign language exam arrived two minutes late and was refused entry; they knelt outside the school gate begging to be allowed in.”
Opening her phone, Chen Ruowen saw an overwhelming flood of news related to the college entrance exams. She casually clicked through a few trending topics, feeling both surprised and amused.
“How come I never knew there were so many news stories about exams before...” She put down her phone and leaned closer to Guo Jingyuan, who was staring intently at her computer screen. “Have you finished checking your answers?”
Guo Jingyuan nodded nervously, her face tight with tension.
“How many points do you think you got?”
“I’m not sure... I don’t know if my estimates are accurate…”
Chen Ruowen was speechless. “Then why did you waste so much time on this?”
After such a big exam, most people would sleep for three days straight and feast before doing anything else. But Guo Jingyuan, after the exam, returned to the kitchen as usual to help Aunt Zhang cook. She even made a pot of fruit porridge herself and proudly brought it to Chen Ruowen’s room to try it out.
She continued memorizing vocabulary before bed, woke up early the next day, helped Aunt Zhang make breakfast, then borrowed the computer to anxiously wait for the answer keys to be released for score estimation.
Chen Ruowen reached out and turned off the computer monitor, pulling Guo Jingyuan up from her seat.
“Stop checking. Come out with me.”
...
A red Ferrari slowly drove out of the city center and stopped at a resort called Ganyi Mountain Villa, located outside the Third Ring Road.
Chen Ruowen said she wanted to take Guo Jingyuan out to play for a couple of days to broaden her horizons. When Chen Liwan and Yang Anxin found out, they just instructed Assistant Pan to pack a few changes of clothes and some bedding, reminding them to be careful on their trip.
The villa was built over mountains, rivers, and spanned two straits, covering a total area of three million square meters. It offered everything from forest and sea views, beaches and waterfalls, horse riding grounds and golf courses, to hot springs and guest rooms — truly a luxurious paradise.
Passing through a curved wooden arcade and following the gentle flow of a creek beneath, the two stepped into a glass foyer that connected the natural scenery with the residential area.
Before them stretched an extraordinarily spacious hall, enclosed on all sides by transparent glass walls, revealing the unobstructed distant views. The room was furnished with wooden furniture and decorated with estate-style ornaments.
A huge square table, bamboo rattan chairs, and walls lined with shelves holding countless bottles of red wine.
“North are the guest rooms; the far east has the hot spring area and tea room; to the south are the horse stables, golf course, and a small hill; westward is the exit, along with the beach and sea view,” Chen Ruowen explained, pointing to a number on the bar counter. “That’s the administration office phone number. Write it down. This place is quite large, so don’t wander off or you might get lost.”
---
Guo Jingyuan obediently nodded. “What are we doing here?”
“Playing!” Chen Ruowen replied inexplicably. “A few friends will be coming later; I’ll introduce you to them.”
Guo Jingyuan looked a bit reserved here, but Chen Ruowen didn’t treat her with the same protective care as before. These were minor affairs, and the more one saw, the more one got used to it.
After roughly explaining the layout and some precautions, Chen Ruowen was about to call the administration office for some drinks when the wooden arcade to the west echoed with rapid footsteps.
A tall, slender, very pale-skinned boy strode in briskly. His gaze swept the room briefly before locking onto Chen Ruowen instantly. His eyes lit up, and he lunged forward, kneeling on one leg on the sofa to embrace her tightly.
“Sister Wen, am I the first one here?” Song Yunhui asked excitedly after releasing her.
Chen Ruowen nodded.
“Great!” Song Yunhui plopped down beside her, took out his phone, snapped a photo, and posted it online. “Finally got first place! Gonna brag a little, make Geng Jiaojiao jealous.”
Chen Ruowen couldn’t help but laugh and cry at their childishness.
Song Yunhui chuckled twice, pocketed his phone, then vented some envy and resentment over Geng Jiaojiao’s past antics before turning his attention to Guo Jingyuan.
“Sister Wen, is this the beauty you brought today?”
Chen Ruowen nodded and formally introduced them.
“Guo Jingyuan, my friend,” she said, then turned to the other side: “Song Yunhui.”
“Sister Wen, I’m your friend too!” Song Yunhui protested.
Chen Ruowen gave him a side-eye.
“Beauty, how did you meet Sister Wen? Did you run into danger on the road and she saw it, drawing her sword to heroically save you? Then you fell for her and decided to devote yourself to her?”
Chen Ruowen kicked Song Yunhui outright.
He took the kick solidly but immediately perked up.
“Blushing! Blushing! Sister Wen, your friend’s blushing! I called it!”
Chen Ruowen was momentarily stunned, glanced oddly at Guo Jingyuan, then back at Song Yunhui.
“She’s just shy; don’t tease her.”
---
Song Yunhui nodded repeatedly, acting very understanding.
“It’s okay, beauty. You’re not alone; we all love Sister Wen, and no one can not love Sister Wen. That’s perfectly normal.”
“Shut up…” Chen Ruowen was overwhelmed.
“Sister Wen, you hurt my feelings!”
Song Yunhui wailed dramatically but was in a good mood to banter with Chen Ruowen for a while. As they talked, footsteps came again from the wooden arcade. Chen Ruowen turned to see Geng Jiaojiao rushing into her arms like a swallow returning home.
“Sister Wen!!! I missed you so much!!!”
Chen Ruowen nearly got crushed by her sudden embrace.
“Jiaojiao, did you gain weight again? You’re so heavy.”
Geng Jiaojiao’s previously excited face fell instantly.
“Sister Wen, you think I’m fat and don’t love me anymore, boohoo!”
She nuzzled into Chen Ruowen’s shoulder, pouted, and kicked Song Yunhui several times, who was laughing and clapping nearby, determined not to stop until she sent him under the sofa. Kang Wenbo tried to pick her up several times but couldn’t pry her away from Chen Ruowen.
“Don’t touch me!” Geng Jiaojiao turned her back and hit Kang Wenbo once. “Don’t separate me and Sister Wen.”
“But you’re almost squashing Sister Wen…” Kang Wenbo said helplessly.
Geng Jiaojiao paused her kicking, pouted, and climbed down from Chen Ruowen’s lap. She squeezed into the small patch of space she had just cleared, sitting between Chen Ruowen and Song Yunhui. Song Yunhui tugged at her a few times but couldn’t move her.
“I came first, you know.”
“Hmph, even if you came first, Sister Wen is still mine!”
“That’s not necessarily true,” Song Yunhui said, pointing to the other side of Chen Ruowen’s body. “Guo Jingyuan, Sister Wen’s friend, the one Sister Wen personally brought to Ganyi.”
Geng Jiaojiao wrapped one arm around Chen Ruowen and glanced sideways with a pout.
“Sister Wen, you really do have another woman outside…”
