Chapter 112: The Shattering of the Primordial Soul
“Young Master Lin, the city wall on my side is about to collapse. Why have you called me here?” The old Mountain God hurried over, his face filled with anxiety.
“You stay here. I’ll deal with Liu Qingmang!” I said. Before the old Mountain God could ask more, I dashed off toward that direction. He glanced at the city wall and was taken aback to see it crawling with rats.
“So that’s what’s going on!” he suddenly understood. Immediately, he took out his Mountain God token and chanted, “Mighty power shaking the wilds, commanding beasts, spiritual force through the rocky crevices, blessing all living beings!”
“Power! Shake! Mountain! River!” The old Mountain God roared fiercely. Divine radiance burst forth from his token, sweeping across the city walls and striking down all the rats burrowing holes. The rats that tried to attack him were either blasted away by his magic or struck down by heavenly lightning, reduced to charred corpses.
In just moments, all the rats summoned by Hui Haozi’s magic were eliminated by the old Mountain God.
Meanwhile, I had already reached the city wall at the West Gate. The entire wall shook violently, making it hard to keep my footing. Bai Xiangu looked at me and said, “This blue python’s scale armor is far too tough. My spells can’t penetrate it. Leader, do you have any ideas?”
“No worries, leave it to me. You hold the wall!” I replied. Without waiting for her further objection, I moved to the edge of the wall. Bai Xiangu shouted, “Leader, what are you doing? Don’t!” But I had already leapt down.
Adjusting my posture midair, I landed firmly atop the huge blue python’s head. The snake sensed my presence and roared furiously, thrashing its head violently against the wall, trying to crush me.
Yet I grabbed its scaly horn with one hand, channeling my power into my right fist and struck down hard. The blue python staggered, then fell to the ground. I landed steadily, locking eyes with the beast.
It opened its massive jaws and howled at me, as if wanting to swallow me whole. I clenched my fists, my true energy boiling within, white dragon scales sprouting across my hands and face.
Fixing my gaze on the python, I bellowed, “Don’t you know what you are, daring to challenge my dragon might!”
That roar caused the python’s proudly raised scaley horns to droop instantly. Its previous vigor vanished in an instant.
By now, white scales had covered both my hands like dragon claws. I crouched slightly, gathered my strength, and sprang into the air. My primal spiritual power condensed fully into my right hand. The once aggressive blue python was now subdued, prostrate and unwilling to resist.
I leapt from the wall and dove down, channeling all my strength into a single punch, smashing the python’s brow. A tremendous crack sounded, followed by the shattering of its scaled armor.
The blue python let out a mournful roar.
A crack spread across its brow.
The blue python was its true form. I knew this punch must have shattered Liu Qingmang’s true form—the original soul of his beast body. This wasn’t merely due to strength, but also the suppressive power of my dragon might.
“Damn, Fourth Brother is injured! Let’s go save him!” Two wild immortals who had been confronting Weiyang rushed over upon seeing the situation here. Weiyang followed them, dragging the blue python away. Meanwhile, I returned to the city wall with Weiyang. Seeing this, Hui Haozi immediately retreated.
Back on the wall, Bai Xiangu said, “Leader, you shouldn’t have taken such a risk.”
I waved her off, “It’s fine.”
Huayu Yan and Hua Mujin’s conditions were unclear, especially Hua Mujin, who seemed poisoned by Bai Ciwei. The black thorn carried a deadly toxin; those disciples of the Earth Dao with shallow cultivation who were wounded by it had already perished. Huayu Yan’s condition was somewhat better—her backfire from the Qingping Sword was severe, but Huang Shulang’s yellow smoke was mostly confusing rather than toxic, so she was still holding on.
“I’ll treat Mujin’s wounds!” Huayu Yan said, but she found herself unable to stand up, especially her right arm, stained blood-red, the white armor soaked with blood.
“Rest well and don’t move!” I instructed.
Weiyang came over to take Hua Mujin’s pulse. “The poison hasn’t reached her heart yet. There’s still hope. Let me try!” she said.
Weiyang formed a hand seal and touched Hua Mujin’s brow. I had never seen such a healing method before.
Bai Xiangu hurried over to stop her. “Miss Ye, you can’t use that method! It’s forbidden!”
Weiyang glanced at Bai Xiangu and said calmly, “Fairy, this soul healing technique is how our Yin people treat wounds. What’s wrong with that?”
Bai Xiangu hesitated, as if wanting to say more but swallowed the words back. She sighed softly and glanced at me. “Yes, soul magic is indeed used for healing like this.”
Weiyang’s treatment was truly effective.
Minutes later, Hua Mujin awoke. Her lips, once purple-black, had regained their natural color. The poison was neutralized.
However, Weiyang looked exhausted, which worried me.
“Weiyang, are you alright?” I asked.
She forced a small smile. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
Outside the pass, the wild immortals had all temporarily withdrawn to their camp. Their morale was no longer as high as before. Huayu Yan said, “Lin Yi, thanks to you defeating Liu Qingmang, one of the five great guardian immortals, the wild immortals’ momentum has been broken!”
Bai Xiangu approached and said, “Leader, you didn’t just defeat Liu Qingmang.”
Outside the pass, inside the main tent of the wild immortals’ main army, Huang Shulang and Bai Ciwei gently laid down the barely breathing Liu Qingmang.
Old Master Hu Santai stood up, frowning deeply as he looked at the dying Liu Qingmang, his eyes fierce and questioning. “No one at the Shanhaiguan pass has returned to the void. The Qingping Sword has no suitable master. What happened to Fourth Brother?”
“Master, Fourth Brother’s original soul is shattered. He won’t last long,” Huang Shulang replied.
“What! Who did this?” Hu Santai roared, trembling with rage. He had thought Liu Qingmang was merely injured, but even with his Void Return cultivation, he shouldn’t have been carried in like this. He never imagined it was the shattering of his original soul.
“Master, it was Lin Yi,” Huang Shulang answered.
“Impossible! Lin Yi is only mid-stage Primordial Spirit strength. How could he destroy Fourth Brother’s original soul?” Hu Santai refused to believe it.
“Master, Lin Yi isn’t human. When he struck Fourth Brother, his whole body was covered in white scales, and his hands looked like dragon claws. Fourth Brother saw him and acted like he saw a dragon—he crouched down and didn’t dare move. That’s why Lin Yi’s punch shattered his original soul!”
Hearing this, Hu Santai slammed his fist onto the desk, shattering it into pieces.
At that moment, a blue aura emanated from Liu Qingmang. Gradually, he transformed back into his true form—a snake lying on its back, lifeless.
“Fourth Brother! Fourth Brother!”
“I thought of everything, but never this. Fourth Brother, it’s all my fault! Don’t worry. Tomorrow I will fight personally to avenge you. I will kill Lin Yi with my own hands!”
Hu Santai’s eyes turned blood red, his aura terrifying. Huang Shulang and Bai Ciwei both involuntarily took a step back.
At Shanhaiguan, atop the city wall, Huayu Yan ordered the sentries to their posts and immediately led people down to search for the lost Qingping Demon-Suppressing Sword.
This sword was ruthless against demons; the wild immortals dared not touch it. So the sword must still be near where it fell.
Sure enough, Huayu Yan soon found the Qingping Demon-Suppressing Sword. She picked it up cautiously, her heart pounding slightly. Fortunately, nothing happened when she ascended the wall with the sword.
She had heard that even Luo Shen, the Guardian Immortal, had taken forty-nine days to fully master the Qingping Demon-Suppressing Sword.
So Huayu Yan prepared to try again.
Although Lin Yi had defeated one of the five great wild immortal guardians, the remaining guardians, especially Hu Santai, were formidable and unfathomable. The wild immortals’ strength was still not to be underestimated. To ultimately win and avenge the fallen heroic spirits on Changbai Mountain, reliance on the Qingping Demon-Suppressing Sword was essential.
However, as Huayu Yan swung the sword twice, it suddenly slipped from her grasp. Like a living thing, it whistled sharply and stabbed directly toward her neck.
