Chapter 034: The Body of Myriad Immortal Radiances!
The Murong Clan was one of the Four Great Immortal Families of the Liguo Kingdom, its influence not inferior in the least to that of the grandest sects. Yet, if Qin Xuanxi wished for this family to be erased, then it would surely vanish without a trace from this world, its name surviving only as a footnote in the annals of cultivation history.
“Very well,” Qin Xuanxi replied to Liang Fang. “I shall bathe the Murong Clan in blood, avenging your husband, Su Nian!”
Even a mighty sect such as the Holy Heaven Sect had tasted extermination at Qin Xuanxi’s hands—what need to mention the comparatively insignificant Murong Clan?
But Liang Fang spoke up, “Su Nian was my husband and my daughter’s father. The Murong Clan’s murder of Su Nian is my husband’s death to avenge, and my daughter’s father’s blood to repay. Such a sea of hatred—how could I let another enact its revenge in our stead? I have come here to beg you, Sect Master Qin, to take my daughter as your disciple, to teach her cultivation, so that in thirty years’ time, she may with her own hands destroy the Murong Clan and avenge her father herself!”
Qin Xuanxi’s brows furrowed slightly. If it were merely a matter of slaughtering the entire Murong Clan, it would be a trivial task for her. But to take on a three-year-old girl as a disciple and personally guide her for thirty years was no simple matter.
Seeing the hesitation, Liang Fang hastily knelt in supplication. “I beseech Sect Master Qin to grant this request. Though my daughter was born mute, she is obedient and diligent. One day, she will surely become your right hand, serving the Brahma Abyss Sect loyally, never a burden to you!”
Qin Xuanxi had long since noticed the little girl’s muteness, and her aptitude for cultivation was average at best—not at all a promising seedling. She spoke bluntly, “It is not impossible for me to take your daughter as my disciple. After all, she is Su Nian’s child, and for his sake I will do this. But cultivation depends on one’s own effort and innate talent. I cannot guarantee that in thirty years, your daughter will possess the strength to annihilate the Murong Clan and avenge her father.”
Liang Fang nodded. “Sect Master Qin, I have thought of this as well. If, after thirty years, my daughter still cannot exact this vengeance herself, then I must trouble you to do it in her stead... For this, I kneel in gratitude now.”
With that, Liang Fang bowed low to Qin Xuanxi, touching her forehead to the ground three times.
Qin Xuanxi noticed something amiss in Liang Fang’s demeanor and asked, “Liang Fang, before you came here, did you take a Death Pill?”
Liang Fang’s face grew paler still, and she nodded. “Yes. Su Nian and I promised to stay together, in life and in death. I must go to join him. I beg you, Sect Master Qin, grant my final request—take Yan’er as your disciple, so that she may someday avenge her father with her own hands!”
Seeing this, Qin Xuanxi could only nod. “Very well, I promise you.”
“Thank you, Sect Master Qin!” Liang Fang knelt once more before Qin Xuanxi, then turned to her daughter. “Yan’er, promise Mother, you must always listen to Sect Master Qin from now on, do you understand?”
The little girl nodded obediently.
“Go on, quickly, go to the Sect Master’s side,” Liang Fang urged, gently pushing her daughter forward.
The girl took a few hesitant steps, glancing back at her mother with every step.
“Yan’er, be good. Yan’er, don’t look back. Never look back,” Liang Fang called after her. “Go to Sect Master Qin—only she can help you avenge your father!”
Liang Fang knew her time was short; the Death Pill was taking effect, her body fading away by the moment. Just before she vanished entirely, she spoke to Qin Xuanxi.
“Sect Master Qin, my daughter’s name is—Su Yan.”
With those final words, her body turned to dust and smoke, disappearing forever from this world.
Su Yan reached Qin Xuanxi’s side, obeying her mother’s words and never looking back. Yet, as if understanding everything, her eyes brimmed with tears.
Qin Xuanxi gently stroked Su Yan’s small head. “From this day forward, you are my disciple. As my disciple, you may bleed, but you must never shed tears. Remember—this is the last time you will cry.”
Still, the little girl could not stop her tears.
Qin Xuanxi sighed softly.
This child was only three years old, and from now on would have to shoulder the burden of her parents’ bloody vengeance—a fate both cruel and unfair.
Qin Xuanxi wondered if perhaps she ought to give the girl a choice. Moreover, with such average aptitude, Su Yan was ill-suited for the path of cultivation.
Yet, as her hand rested on Su Yan’s small head, Qin Xuanxi suddenly sensed something unexpected. A look of surprise crossed her face.
This little girl possessed the “Ten Thousand Lights Immortal Body”!
This constitution was exceedingly rare—one in ten thousand, its rarity on par with Qin Xuanxi’s own dual immortal-demon body. For such a physique, there would be a long dormant period, so even Qin Xuanxi had initially mistaken her for an ordinary child.
The Ten Thousand Lights Immortal Body, as its name implied, was suited only for the cultivation of the immortal path. It seemed fate had decreed that Su Yan could not become the disciple of Qin Xuanxi, the Demon Sovereign.
True, Qin Xuanxi was both immortal and demon, and was well-versed in immortal cultivation. In theory, she could personally instruct Su Yan in the immortal path. But she could not risk exposing her dual constitution for the sake of a newly accepted disciple. Moreover, as a leader of the demon cultivators, she could not in good conscience nurture a future pillar of the immortal sects.
And deep within, she did not wish for a three-year-old girl to be shackled to her parents’ bloody vendetta. She wanted to give this child a chance to choose her own path.
As for Su Nian’s revenge, Qin Xuanxi herself could see to it.
With that, Qin Xuanxi conjured an illusion of a grassy plain before the little girl. On the plain, there was a cute rabbit and a sword embedded in the earth.
“Choose the rabbit, or choose the sword. The choice is yours,” said Qin Xuanxi.
If Su Yan chose the sword, Qin Xuanxi would find her a suitable master in the immortal sects and aid her growth from the shadows, so that one day she could avenge her father herself. While this would mean nurturing a talent for the immortal faction, contrary to Qin Xuanxi’s own allegiance, she owed Su Nian a debt, and would consider it repayment.
If Su Yan chose the rabbit, Qin Xuanxi would find her loving adoptive parents, letting her grow up in happiness as any ordinary child. Whether she would then find her own path to cultivation, encounter a worthy immortal master, or step onto the immortal road—those things would depend on Su Yan’s own fate. Qin Xuanxi would intervene no further.
Of course, Su Nian’s murder would still be avenged. As she had promised Liang Fang, if the Murong Clan yet remained in thirty years, Demon Sovereign Xuan Yuan would wipe them out, so that Su Nian and Liang Fang might finally rest in peace.
