Yang Jingtian was stunned upon hearing this. He thought to himself that Old Chu must be crazy, wanting these three rough-looking thugs to apologize to him?
He was about to speak when Chu Nan shot him a fierce glare.
Yang was used to following Chu Nan’s lead, and that look instantly told him what was meant: “You shut up, I’ll handle this.”
Chu Nan’s meaning was clear: “You stay quiet, I’ll settle this.”
“What?! You want me to apologize to this loser?!” Luo Xiang’s face was full of disbelief.
Chu Nan said expressionlessly, “You beat up my brother; I should be slapping you a few times in return. But since I’m bedridden and can’t move right now, you’ll just apologize. Once you apologize, this matter is settled. Oh, and pay for the medical expenses while you’re at it.”
“I’ll never apologize to you! Chu Nan, huh? I’ll remember you. It’s inconvenient to get physical in the hospital today, but wait until you’re discharged, you’ll regret this. Let’s go!” Luo Xiang said and turned to leave.
“Yang Jingtian, give me your phone. I’m calling the police.” Chu Nan said calmly.
Hearing that Chu Nan was calling the police, the three men hurried their steps.
“You can’t run from this. I can find you through Zhou Xiaonan, or even through the security cameras here. If that doesn’t work, I can track you through the fingerprints on Yang Jingtian’s face. Anyway, I’ve already dialed 110. You better think carefully.”
As Chu Nan spoke, he put the phone on speaker.
“Hello, this is Jiangcheng Police Station. How may I assist you?” A sweet female voice came through the phone, causing Luo Xiang and his gang to freeze.
“I! Apologize!” Luo Xiang opened his mouth wide in a ridiculous manner. Though the voice was faint, the lip movements clearly spelled out these words.
He hadn’t expected this guy to actually call the police!
Chu Nan then said, “Ah, police station? Sorry, sorry, I dialed the wrong number in a hurry. I meant to call 119; my son is sick!”
“Alright, sir. Please be mindful next time and avoid misusing emergency resources.”
“I understand, thank you, miss!”
After hanging up, Chu Nan smiled brightly at the three men. “Apologize, boys…”
“You’re such a—”
“Sigh, looks like you don’t plan to apologize.” Chu Nan waved the phone around. Luo Xiang and the two henchmen immediately changed their expressions.
“Fine, fine, we apologize, we apologize. Put down the phone.”
“Then why are you still standing there? Line up and apologize to my brother one by one.”
Luo Xiang’s face was dark, but he eventually controlled himself and lined up as instructed.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry…”

“Speak louder, I didn’t hear you,” Chu Nan said expressionlessly.
“You…”
“I won’t repeat myself.”
“Okay, s-sorry!” Luo Xiang spat out the words one by one, clearly frustrated.
“Sorry!” The other two henchmen also spoke up loudly.
Yang Jingtian hurriedly said, “It’s… it’s okay, it’s all a misunderstanding, really!”
“Hmph! Let’s go!”
“Hey, did I say you could leave? Didn’t I say there’s still medical fees to be paid!”
“Chu Nan, don’t get too cocky!” Luo Xiang’s eyes reddened; he was losing control of his temper.
Chu Nan remained calm. “If I’m being unreasonable, is it because your beating my brother is reasonable? If you don’t want to pay, fine. Just bring your face over here and let me slap you twice—that’ll settle this.”
“Alright, alright, you want money? Here, take it!” Luo Xiang pulled out a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket and slapped it on Chu Nan’s face.
“You think you can walk away with just this?”
“You little brat, don’t be so shameless!” Luo Xiang snapped and grabbed Chu Nan’s collar.
“What are you doing?!” Just then, the door opened again, and a clear, melodious voice rang out.
Luo Xiang shuddered at the sound and quickly released Chu Nan’s collar.
“Luo Xiang, what are you all doing here?!” Zhou Xiaonan stared at Luo Xiang intently. Although her face was expressionless, her eyes blazed with fury.
“Big sis, you’re here! Nothing much, just joking around with little brother Chu Nan!” Luo Xiang said, fixing Chu Nan’s collar.
Zhou Xiaonan’s gaze shifted to Chu Nan.
Chu Nan smiled faintly, “He’s right; we were just joking around.”
“Is that so, Yang Jingtian?” Zhou Xiaonan asked flatly.
“Yes, yes, just joking, just joking, hehe,” Yang Jingtian quickly agreed. It was a joke, after all—Chu Nan said so himself. How could he say otherwise? Besides, if he told the truth, Luo Xiang and the others might have killed him afterward!
“Luo Xiang, look me in the eye and tell me, was this all just joking?” Zhou Xiaonan’s eyes flashed with a fierce glint.
Seeing her expression, Luo Xiang panicked but still nodded stiffly, “Y-yes, just joking…”
“Slap!” Zhou Xiaonan delivered a sharp slap.

“Big sis, you…”
“Joking? Then what about the slap marks on their faces? Don’t tell me they hit themselves!”
Zhou Xiaonan then struck the other two henchmen hard, “Liu Xinze, Zhang Wei, what about you? Was this also just joking?!”
“Big sis, it’s really not our fault. It was our boss—he told us to deal with them!” One of the henchmen, unable to bear the pressure, confessed.
“Good, very good!” Zhou Xiaonan said, then looked at Luo Xiang.
“Big sis, our boss was just worried…”
“Slap!” Zhou Xiaonan slapped him again. “If he’s worried, he can come talk to me himself. Chu Nan and Yang Jingtian are my friends. If you touch them, you’re touching me. I warn you: if you dare lay a hand on them again, I’ll send people to deal with you. Believe me or not?!”
Luo Xiang was instantly terrified. He didn’t doubt Zhou Xiaonan’s words at all. She knew many powerful people and was wealthy herself. Hiring some thugs to beat them up would be easy.
“Understood, big sis, we won’t dare anymore, never again!”
Losing favor with Big Sis meant no more money to spend.
Big Sis was generous, giving them a few thousand yuan every month, much more than what their parents gave for food.
“Get out! Tell Long Junhao that if he dares to act up again, I’ll cut off everyone’s allowance. I’m not joking!”
“Okay, okay,I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
