Volume 1, Chapter 29: Being a Good Person for Once
The building entrance is guarded by security, and one cannot enter without an identification badge.
Walking toward the entrance with complex emotions, I realized that the person standing below was indeed A-Qing, and I instinctively turned to leave.
"Dong-ge!"
"Give me a chance, please listen to my explanation!"
A-Qing’s voice sounded as if she were on the verge of tears. At this point, I didn't know what else there was to explain, or what even required an explanation. I had intended to head straight back to my office, but realizing that she knew I was here, and that this was the only exit to the entire building, I feared that if I didn't make things clear, she might continue to wait outside or encounter the department head and follow them inside to find me. That might lead to unnecessary gossip.
Lin Jinsuo, lying on the ground, looked up slightly at the smiling Gu Chen and glared at him, but in front of Jun Hui, he dared not act rashly. He quickly lowered his head again, not daring to stand, presumably waiting for Jun Hui to speak.
"Prime Minister, please listen to our explanation! I believe that in five minutes, you will be just as happy as we are!" Jinteng Chuan, the deputy leader of the Renwu Alliance, stepped forward cheerfully.
Jin Zhiyan sensed that there was more to Jiang Chengce’s words than met the ear. Looking closely at him, she noticed the abrasion on his forehead, and her heart tightened.
Before long, the sound of screeching brakes echoed from outside, followed by the engine cutting out, and then Jin Shirou’s figure appeared at the lobby entrance.
In the military, at least when you were angry, you could vent your frustration on the new recruits; when you were lonely, you could at least find an adjutant to talk to.
"Uh..." Yu Hao was also shocked, the reins in his hands nearly slipping. When did the young heir learn this? Does his master know? Should he tell his master?
If they truly shared such a deep connection, could it be like the stories of scholars and beauties told in the mortal world? Did he like her?
"No, there is only Xiu and my younger brother, just the two brothers." Even the clever Gu Qingkuang was puzzled as to why Gu Qingya was curious about this.
Long Yan blinked in disbelief. Had she heard correctly? He hadn't resisted, hadn't lost his temper, and hadn't offered any sarcastic remarks?
Then, Jinteng Chuan clearly recounted the events of Ran Luoxue’s battle at the Fourth Defense Line. By the time he finished, a triumphant smile had spread across Han Tian Dongdu’s face.
But having followed the Marshal for so many years, Qin Jun’s feelings for him went beyond mere loyalty.
She kept Zheng Linglong’s words firmly in mind, fearing that Zhen Rou would end up in the miserable position of being neither wife nor concubine.
In truth, even when her arm was severed, her expression hadn't shown any sign of pain; she was never one to frown due to suffering.
"Besides, looking at your expression earlier, it was as if you knew in advance that I was having dinner with another man; you were so aggressive." Although Su Mianmian was sometimes dense, she was occasionally very shrewd.
When they went downstairs, Zhao Hongshan and Su Man were sitting on the sofa, a tea set laid out on the coffee table. Su Man was boiling water to brew tea with Zhao Hongshan.
Thus, Lu Ming'er followed Lei Yu’s instructions exactly, scolding Ye Fenglin for being thoughtless and not taking care of his health.
He had wanted to study computer science back in the day, but due to certain circumstances, he hadn't been able to. He still held a sense of admiration for Ye Lingxiao.
She just wanted to know; in reality, that reason had no substantive meaning at all.
The sound was so loud that it made Aksar’s head ache. He couldn't help but step back, raising a hand to press against his forehead.
Dai Yuechan was only of average appearance, but her two cousins were born with such flower-like beauty that one couldn't help but feel pity for them.
Although the voice was not loud, it resonated in everyone’s hearts like a thunderclap, making everyone’s scalp tingle.
Having failed to pass the imperial examinations, he changed his path and became a chivalrous thief who robbed the rich to help the poor. In daily life among the common people, he was entirely inconspicuous; even if one met him face-to-face, one would never recognize him as a somewhat famous figure in the underworld.
It was a dusk when the evening lights were just beginning to glow. After dinner, I was sitting in the living room watching television, a floor lamp lit beside the sofa.
She turned around and saw Luo Nanxian standing motionless behind her. He still had nothing on.
"What is going on! Wasn't it said that he couldn't see me?! Wasn't it said that he couldn't hurt me!!" Cong Yi was terrified, as if the God of Death were kissing him.
The next second, a piece of heavy-duty tape sealed her mouth, preventing her from screaming, while her hands were bound behind her back with more tape.
"Good, good, good! A fine Charm Demon clan, a fine Charm Concubine! My brother treated her so well, and this is how she repays him?" Dong Ze suddenly roared. Upon learning that Han Lang had been severely injured, he flew into a rage, coming straight to the Charm Demon clan from the domain of a demon cultivator quasi-god.
As for school, I hadn't gone for a while, and my cousin knew about it. She simply told me not to go anymore; after all, my focus was now on my career, and as for studies, I could learn on my own as long as I had the self-discipline.
If one were forced to hold back, this regret would settle in the heart, and the consequences would be far-reaching.
For him, who had been pushing for the promotion of another Wang clan member named Wang Huang—a man from Bianliang who was on good terms with him—this was a major blow.
Her hair looked greasy and coarse, and her complexion was sallow and wrinkled. The bloat of her body was especially shocking to a male classmate who had once liked Sun Min. Though he didn't say anything, Sun Min knew he must have found it an eyesore.
Fortunately, the Zhongshan Gymnasium was only halfway up the mountain; there was a large flat area on the mountainside where the stadium sat. It was a massive arena capable of holding sixty thousand spectators and had once been the home field for the Lingang football team. After the Lingang World University Games, a new stadium was built in the eastern city, and the Zhongshan Gymnasium became much quieter.
Liu Ming became excited. Although the Prime Minister Turtle was also essentially a wage earner, he was certainly a level above the Jade Rabbit. In the vast East China Sea, aside from the Dragon King, he was the bona fide second-in-command, leading countless shrimp soldiers and crab generals; his position was not low at all.
Although production had wrapped, there was still a great deal of work to be done, including editing, dubbing, and scoring. It would take some time to process.
Yang Feng pinched a sword seal, and the sword on his back flew into the sky, as did Pan Yuzhen’s Ink Kite Sword. Both hoped to intercept the missile.
The fact that his cousin refused to join the Huaiyou army left him helpless. He couldn't abandon his cousin to join the Huaiyou forces, so he could only follow him.
He had boldly let Zhuang Yongsheng go back then because he had discovered that Zhuang Yongsheng possessed a temperament similar to Chai Yong’s, but compared to Zhuang Yongsheng, Chai Yong was undoubtedly more experienced and sophisticated.
